In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating CNC and conventional grinding machines to achieve precise dimensions and finishes on metallic and non-metallic parts.You will also support continuous improvement initiatives, resolve machining issues, and ensure optimal machine performance to meet strict quality standards.<h3>Key Responsibilities</h3>Machining &amp; Setup:<ul><li>Set up and operate internal and external CNC grinding machines</li><li>Align and secure tooling, attachments, and materials</li><li>Calculate and program grinding parameters such as speed, feed, and depth</li><li>Run trial parts and verify accuracy of machine settings</li></ul>Quality Assurance:<ul><li>Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and sample parts</li><li>Inspect finished components to ensure they meet dimensional and finish standards</li><li>Follow ISO guidelines and Schafer-specific quality procedures</li><li>Complete internal quality certification requirements</li></ul>Machine Maintenance &amp; Troubleshooting:<ul><li>Perform routine machine checks and preventative maintenance</li><li>Detect and correct malfunctions or tolerance issues</li><li>Work with engineers and programmers to resolve production challenges</li></ul>Operational Efficiency:<ul><li>Prepare tooling, fixtures, and materials ahead of scheduled jobs</li><li>Reduce setup time and enhance productivity through process improvements</li><li>Track tooling performance and recommend cost-effective alternatives</li><li>Maintain a clean and organized work area under the 6S program</li><li>Submit suggestions for continuous improvement</li></ul>Team Contribution:<ul><li>Train new team members on machine operation</li><li>Communicate shift updates and important notes in the daily logbook</li><li>Provide input for ongoing quality and process enhancements</li><li>Assist in other grinding areas when needed</li></ul><h3>Required Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Two years of CNC grinding experience or a related technical certification</li><li>Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints</li><li>Strong understanding of machining principles and grinding techniques</li><li>Proficiency with measurement tools and computer-controlled systems</li><li>Physical ability to perform job tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds</li><li>Effective communication in English, both written and verbal</li><li>Basic computer skills</li></ul><h3>Working Environment</h3><ul><li>State-of-the-art, climate-controlled facility</li><li>Exposure to industrial materials including dust, oils, and cleaning agents</li><li>Full-time, on-site position</li></ul><h3>Equal Opportunity Employer</h3>Schafer Industries is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer. After developing Aeon-R engines, we’re now producing flight engines for Terran-R’s first launch to orbit.About the Role:&nbsp;Develop machining process:<ul><li>Create Process Plans, Standard Operating Procedures, Inspection Plans, Work Holding Desings, and other supporting documents to define the process to manufacture parts.</li><li>Improve manufacturing processes through developing and deploying new technologies and methodologies.</li></ul>Advise on Design for Manufacturing methodologies:<ul><li>Advise on Design for Manufacturability methodologies to upstream partners.</li><li>Articulate manufacturing, fixturing, and inspection method for a design concepts, GD&amp;T requirements, and datum structures to inform design choices.</li><li>Recommend novel designs or design updates to improve manufacturability</li></ul>Solve technical manufacturing problems at the pace of the business<ul><li>Analyze and improve processes that create non-conforming hardware.
