Turning is the shop's top priority, so strong lathe programming experience carries particular weight.

What you'll be doing

• Program parts directly from drawings and blueprints
• Make most parts efficiently without assistance
• Handle first-article work
• Set up and run CNC mills and/or lathes
• Set work offsets, tool offsets, and workholding
• Troubleshoot setup and machining issues
• Work in either the lathe or mill department, cross-trained between the two

Machines, controls and software

Lathes include Mazak (2/3/4-axis), DN Solutions dual-spindle, and Okuma (mill-turn capable); mills are all Mazak. A DN Solutions DVF-5000 5-axis machine just came online. Controls are Fanuc and Mazatrol. The shop programs primarily in Fusion 360 and Mastercam.

What we're looking for

Required

• Able to program parts from drawings/blueprints without assistance
• Able to handle first-article work
• Strong blueprint and GD&T reading skills
• U.S. residency (the shop performs work under a Navy contract requiring citizenship compliance)

Preferred

• Lathe-focused experience (turning is the shop's top priority), though strong mill candidates are also considered
• Experience with Fanuc or Mazatrol controls
• Experience with Fusion 360 or Mastercam programming

Pay, benefits and schedule

Pay ranges from $35.00 to $43.00 per hour based on experience. This is a full-time, first-shift position with flexible start times.
