This role exists to support continued production demand and capacity growth across multiple industries, including automotive, defense, oil & gas, mining, and commercial manufacturing.

At Fostet Manufacturing, this position plays a key role in producing precision-machined components with complex geometries and tight tolerances, ensuring quality, reliability, and on-time delivery for customers.

The Work You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Set up and operate CNC vertical machining centers to produce precision metal components
  • Select tooling, fixtures, and workholding for efficient and repeatable production
  • Load, run, and edit CNC programs at the machine as needed
  • Establish offsets and verify setups prior to production runs
  • Perform first-article and in-process inspections to ensure conformance
  • Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Troubleshoot tooling, machine, or process issues
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
  • Maintain accurate setup sheets, production records, and quality documentation
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to reduce downtime and improve processes

Machines, Controls & Software

You’ll work with equipment such as:

Machines:

  • Haas VF-5 series Vertical Machining Centers (with full 4th axis)
  • Large-travel VMCs for medium-to-large components

Controls:

  • Haas (Fanuc-type interface)

CAM Software:

  • Mastercam (offline programming support)

Inspection Tools:

  • Calipers, micrometers, gauges, indicators, and precision measuring instruments

Materials You’ll Work With

  • Aluminum
  • Mild and alloy steels
  • Stainless steel
  • Various industrial metals depending on project requirements

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • 5+ years of CNC milling experience in a production environment
  • Strong setup experience (tooling, fixturing, offsets)
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools
  • Experience holding tight tolerances
  • Solid understanding of machining principles and tooling
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining issues independently
  • Strong attention to detail and quality mindset
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Familiarity with Haas, Fanuc, Mazak, or similar controls
  • Experience editing G-code at the machine
  • Experience with prototype through high-volume production
  • Exposure to complex parts or multi-axis machining
