For more than 50 years, Custom Castings has been helping manufacturers bring precision aluminum components to life. Founded in 1972 and based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the company has grown into one of Canada's leading permanent mold aluminum foundries and precision machining operations.

Today, Custom Castings is part of the Nordstern Group of Companies alongside Forte Tooling Technologies, Protek Surface Technologies, and Sure Cast Aluminum Foundry. Together, they provide customers with a complete manufacturing solution—from engineering and tooling to casting, CNC machining, inspection, finishing, and assembly—all under one roof.

Unlike many machine shops that simply machine customer-supplied material, Custom Castings manufactures its own permanent mold castings before transforming them into finished precision components. This vertically integrated approach gives machinists and programmers the opportunity to work closely with engineering, quality, tooling, and production teams while solving real manufacturing challenges.

The company continues to invest in advanced machining technology, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives to better serve customers while creating long-term career opportunities for its employees. With modern equipment, a strong safety culture, and a commitment to developing skilled trades, Custom Castings offers machinists a stable place to build a rewarding manufacturing career.

Custom Castings is the type of company where skilled machinists can continue growing their careers instead of simply running the same parts every day.

The shop combines modern CNC machining with in-house casting, engineering, tooling, quality, and automation, giving employees exposure to the full manufacturing process. Whether you're operating CNC equipment, programming new jobs, or helping improve machining processes, your work directly contributes to how products are manufactured.

The company also believes in investing in both technology and people. You'll work with advanced Makino horizontal machining centers, Mazak turning centers, 5-axis machining, robotics, and flexible manufacturing systems while enjoying a four-day workweek for weekday shifts, competitive benefits, training opportunities, and clear paths for advancement within the Nordstern Group.

If you're looking for a stable manufacturing career where craftsmanship, teamwork, and continuous improvement are valued, Custom Castings is a great place to call home.

At Custom Castings, you'll manufacture precision aluminum components from permanent mold castings used in a variety of industrial applications. Depending on your role, you may operate CNC horizontal machining centers, vertical machining centers, CNC lathes, or 5-axis equipment while working closely with programmers, engineers, and quality personnel.

The work includes machine setup, CNC operation, process improvement, inspection, blueprint reading, troubleshooting, and maintaining tight quality standards. Programmers also collaborate on tooling strategies, fixture development, automation projects, and continuous improvement initiatives that help increase productivity and repeatability throughout the shop.

Because engineering, casting, machining, and inspection all happen in-house, employees gain valuable exposure to the complete manufacturing process rather than just a single production step.
