CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift

OGS Machining is a CNC Job Shop that is currently looking for a full-time CNC Machinist position for 3rd Shift. Standard shop hours are (4) ten-hour days - Mon-Thurs. 8:00pm - 6:00am, with occasional overtime on Fridays as needed. OGS Machining is a medium-volume, production job shop whose average machining order is 100 - 500 pcs. 75% of our jobs are made from bar stock with the remaining 25% are machining castings or billet. All parts can easily be held in your hand, no cranes or material handling equipment are necessary. The majority of our CNC turning equipment is less than 4 years old, and state-of-the-art. Job Summary Responsible for set-up, occasional program editing (at the controls) and operation of variety of CNC Equipment, including vertical mills, horizontal lathes, Swiss lathes for production. Ability to conduct Quality Inspections to meet customer specifications. Essential Functions <ul><li>Setup mills and lathes for production machining.</li><li>Prove out and inspect first piece for each setup.</li><li>Troubleshoot, edit, and optimize existing programs to ensure efficient overall production (most of our programming is done at the control via G-code). </li><li>Document new program changes and processes to ensure setups can be duplicated and overall production time is optimized.</li><li>Oversee the quality of parts produced in the machining cell and for other operators during the shift by using approved gauging and measuring techniques.</li><li>Properly use inspection equipment, production inspection techniques, system software, and follow established OGS quality system procedures, and work instructions.</li><li>To be proactively aware of work load and plan tooling requirements for future jobs ensuring minimum downtime</li><li>To make most efficient use of machinery and equipment, including the use of proper feeds and speeds, cutter compensation and modern programming strategies.</li><li>Inspect and deburr parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications using proper measuring instruments. Take ownership of the quality of parts you produce.</li><li>Help produce jigs and fixtures that improve productivity</li><li>Use skill and caution to prevent damage to machinery and equipment (crashes, etc)</li><li>Perform basic preventative maintenance on machinery, and keep your work area clean and tidy.</li><li>Follow all safety policies and procedures.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Skills and Requirements <ul><li>At least 2 years experience of working unaided on setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes in a job shop environment.</li><li>Must have a good understanding of CNC programming structure, tooling theory, and speeds / feeds for various materials.</li><li>Previous experience with Fanuc controls preferred.</li><li>Any manual programming or program editing experience is a plus.</li><li>Previous experience with Doosan turning and machining centers is helpful (but not required) - we own a twin-turret Puma TT2100SYY, and a sub-spindle Lynx 2100LYSB, both with Y-axis and live milling. We also have a new Doosan DNM-5700 with Fanuc iHMI control, and Renishaw probing.</li><li>Must be able to identify critical blueprint dimensions and how to inspect/ check these critical dimensions. 3rd Shift - CNC Machinist

Eligible applicants must have at least 10 years of CNC machinist experience and operating 5-axis machines . Position Summary: Sets up and operates numerical control machines or machining centers to perform various functions, such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic pieces, utilizing knowledge of machine tool capabilities, machinability of materials, and shop math. Essential Functions <ul> <li>Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.</li> <li>Mounts, aligns, and secures tooling, attachments, and work piece of machine.</li> <li>Selects and installs cutting tools in machine spindle.</li> <li>Loads control media, such as tape, card, or disk, in machine controller or enters commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions from data base.</li> <li>Calculates and sets machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece and to regulate factors, such as cutting depth, speed, feed and coolant flow.</li> <li>Starts machine and monitors displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions.</li> <li>Stops machine to change cutting tools and setup according to required machining sequence or to measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications, using precision measuring instruments.</li> <li>Enters commands or manually adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.</li> <li>Operates machine manually to perform nonautomated functions and when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.</li> <li>Discusses control media errors with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems.</li> <li>Communicates with supervisor and leadman to receive instructions and coordinate activities with coworkers.</li> <li>Inspects and measures parts to maintain quality, including statistical process control charts when required.</li> <li>Complies with established policy, safety standards, and quality procedures to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.</li> </ul> Minimum Requirements Training and Experience: <ul> <li>High school or equivalent and between 2 and 4 years of trade school, vocational education, work experience, or apprenticeship or a combination thereof.</li> <li>Minimum of 10 years of CNC Machinist experience required.</li> <li>Experience operating 5-axis machines.</li></ul>Physical Demands: The employee is required to: <ul> <li>stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead and bend to the floor</li> <li>exert at a minimum 50 pounds of force occasionally</li> <li>lift up to 75 pounds occasionally</li> <li>weight, force or shape of object may require the use of overhead crane or lifting assist</li></ul>Working Conditions: The employee is subject to an industrial worksite including but not limited to: <ul> <li>noise from operating machines</li> <li>moving equipment or moving machine parts</li> <li>objects that may have sharp edges or burrs</li> <li>machine shop related chemicals that may require restricted handling and proper use of PPE</li> </ul>
