Production Operator
Full Time

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety and Quality Assurance policies.
  • Report injuries, accidents, near misses or unsafe conditions to a supervisor or Manager immediately.
  • Set up and operate power saws (wet, band or circular) to cut material to required lengths or contour in accordance with specifications.
  • Install saw blades prescribed for type of material, set stop gauges, saw speeds and indexing mechanisms such as may be provided for automatic positing of materials.
  • Review Work Orders, Drawings, and ITP specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of part/product, sequence of operations and/or set up requirements.
  • Verify conformance of finished part to ensure that it meets specifications.
  • Monitor product for any possible defects and report to supervisor and QC.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance at the station as required.
  • Maintains equipment and ensures work area is clean and safe at all times.
  • Able to read and follow work orders.
  • Able to use required measuring instruments.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience:
  • Set up and operate power saws (wet, band, or circular) to cut materials to required lengths or contours according to specifications.
  • Install appropriate saw blades for material type, set stop gauges, saw speeds, and indexing mechanisms for accurate positioning.
  • Review Work Orders, Drawings, and ITP specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance at the workstation as required.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure the work area is clean, organized, and safe at all times.
  • Skills:
  • Knowledge of machines, setup procedures, operational methods, material identification, production requirements, and measurements.
  • Ability to read and follow Work Orders accurately.
  • Ability to use required measuring instruments.
  • Basic math skills for production calculations.
  • Ability to verify conformance of finished parts to specifications.
  • Personal Attributes:
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including Health, Safety, and Quality Assurance standards.
  • Report injuries, accidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions to a supervisor or manager immediately.
  • Monitor products for defects and report non-conformances to supervisor and Quality Control.
  • Attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Strength: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and parts, often ranging from 20–50 lbs. (sometimes heavier with assistance).
  • Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, often 6–8 hours per shift, and perform repetitive motions such as cutting, measuring, and feeding materials.
  • Manual Dexterity: Skillful hand-eye coordination for operating saws, adjusting machinery, and handling small components or measuring instruments.
  • Visual Acuity: Ability to read work orders, drawings, and measurement tools accurately; detect defects or irregularities in materials.
  • Mobility & Flexibility: Ability to bend, reach, and maneuver around equipment safely.
  • Hearing: Adequate hearing to follow verbal instructions and recognize warning signals or alarms.
  • Manufacturing Floor: Typically, in a factory or shop setting with concrete floors, heavy machinery, and equipment.
  • Noise Levels: Moderate to high; ear protection may be required due to power saws and other machinery.
  • Temperature & Air Quality: Can vary; some areas may be hot, cold, or dusty depending on materials being cut. Proper ventilation and PPE (personal protective equipment) are often required.
  • Safety Risks: Potential exposure to sharp tools, moving machinery, flying debris, and heavy materials. Safety protocols, guards, and PPE (gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, steel-toed boots) are essential.
