Responsibilities &amp; Expectations: As a CNC Machinist for IPS you will be responsible for producing machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. Responsibilities may include: <ul><li> Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference plans, locations of surfaces, machining parameters, and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&amp;T) </li><li> Program lathes by entering instructions, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, conditional switches, proving part programs, and calculating requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry. </li><li> Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, and troubleshooting malfunctions </li></ul> Qualifications and Competencies: <ul><li> 4-5 years of experience operating CNC equipment </li><li> CNC programming experience a plus </li><li> Be willing and able to work overtime, weekdays , and weekends </li><li> Effective communication both orally and in writing </li><li> Be able to relate well with co-workers in a professional, knowledgeable, and respectful manner </li><li> Ability to work 2nd shift is required </li></ul>You'll thrive at IPS if you... • Lead with integrity and prioritize safety. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Interpret and work from complex manufacturing drawings, blue-prints and part specifications and properly select the correct tooling to complete the machined components.</li> <li>Identify non-conformances during inspection of component parts and properly document such non-conformances.</li> <li>Communicate and problem solve with others in a reasonable and professional manner and work effectively in a team environment.</li> <li>Maintain clean equipment, tools, and work area, follow established safety procedures, and ensure that all safety and ISO 9000 procedures are being followed.</li> <li>Manage, develop, mentor, and train employees.</li> <li>Direct and coordinate production activities to maximize equipment and manpower efficiencies.</li> <li>Work with Scheduling Department and FVMT scheduling system for production needs based on due dates and maintain machining department on-time delivery performance metrics.</li> <li>Communicate with Scheduling Department to expedite job orders and resolve concerns including quality, specifications, and internal delivery deadlines.</li> <li>Coordinate the daily activities of production staff to ensure appropriate coverage.</li> <li>Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in the manufacturing process.</li> <li>Assist in developing and qualifying machining procedures, as well as being part of monitoring and enforcing machining requirements.</li> <li>Carry out written, verbal or diagrammatic instructions and appropriately solve problems.</li> <li>Guide team in best/proper use of a variety of machining processes.</li> <li>Monitor, identify and request the purchasing of materials, etc. required to meet production machining needs.</li> <li>Provide machining instruction that ensures work is being performed in accordance too the job requirements requested by customer.</li> <li>Support and/or drive FVMT continuous improvement initiatives.</li> <li>Provide support to maintenance technicians in the upkeep of equipment.</li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul> Experience and Education: <ul> <li>Seven plus years' experience in a general CNC machining shop or...</li> <li>An Associates Degree in Machining may be accepted in lieu of two years the of experience required.</li> <li>Three plus years of supervisory experience is required; preferably in a metal fabrication environment.</li> <li>Experience with Haas and/or FANUC controls is a plus.</li> <li>Knowledge of machines and tools, uses, repair, and maintenance is required.</li> <li>Knowledge of the raw materials being used is required.</li> <li>Ability to communicate properly with a variety of staff to update, learn, and problem solve, in efforts to machine high quality parts for our customers is required.</li> <li>Computer proficiency including MS Word/Excel and ISO experience is a preferred.</li> <li>Ability to read manufacturing blueprints and is required.</li> <li>Knowledge of Gibbs software or ability to program is a plus, but not required.</li></ul> Fox Valley Metal-Tech has grown to become an employer of choice for machinists, welders and metal finishers alike for its challenging work and employee friendly work environment.
