This Field Machinist role exists to deliver precision machining solutions directly at customer facilities — minimizing downtime and solving problems that can’t be handled in a traditional shop environment.

The Work You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

• Travel to customer sites to repair, modify, and install industrial equipment
• Set up and operate portable machining equipment on-site
• Perform machining, repair, and alignment work in live industrial environments
• Assist with job planning, site evaluations, and custom tooling solutions
• Collaborate with project engineers and supervisors to execute field machining projects safely and efficiently
• Follow safety protocols and meet regulatory and customer requirements at all job sites

Machines, Tools & Equipment

You’ll work hands-on with:

• Portable Machining Equipment:
  • Portable mills
  • Flange facers
  • Boring bars
  • Portable lathes
• Additional Tools:
  • Welding equipment
  • Precision measuring and alignment tools

Materials You’ll Work With

• Carbon and alloy steels
• Stainless steels
• Industrial components and assemblies in power, energy, and heavy manufacturing environments

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• 5+ years of machining and/or mechanical repair experience
• Strong blueprint reading and scope-of-work interpretation skills
• Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and machining issues
• Willingness to travel frequently (approximately 75%)
• Comfortable working outdoors and in industrial environments
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work with heavy equipment

Preferred (Not Required):

• Previous field machining experience
• Welding experience
• CDL license and DOT certification (must be 21+)
