This Field Metrology Technician role is critical to ensuring precision, alignment accuracy, and data-driven decision-making in both shop and on-site environments.

The Work You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

• Independently operate laser trackers in heavy industrial environments
• Perform precision measurements, alignments, and inspection work on large equipment
• Develop measurement plans in collaboration with engineers and customers
• Generate detailed inspection reports with 3D visuals, data tables, and written summaries
• Support field machining teams with setup, alignment, and verification
• Assist with reverse engineering and dimensional analysis when needed
• Identify potential metrology service opportunities and support business development efforts
• Travel frequently to customer sites, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required

Tools, Software & Equipment

You’ll work with:

• Metrology Equipment: Laser trackers (Faro, Leica, or similar)
• Software: Spatial Analyzer (SA), Microsoft Office
• Related Tools: Alignment equipment, precision measurement tools, field support equipment

Materials & Environments

• Large industrial equipment and assemblies
• Power generation, heavy manufacturing, and industrial repair environments
• Both shop-based and on-site field conditions

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• 5+ years of laser tracker experience in industrial environments
• Strong proficiency with Spatial Analyzer (SA)
• Solid understanding of measurement principles, alignment, and geometry
• Mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving ability
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with customers and internal teams
• Willingness to travel frequently and work flexible hours
• Professionalism and strong relationship-building skills

Preferred (Not Required):

• Experience supporting machining or field service teams
• Background in industrial repair, alignment, or heavy equipment
• Exposure to reverse engineering workflows
