Position SummaryThe Engineering Manager reports to the Plant Leader and is responsible for managing, planning, directing, and coordinating the Manufacturing and Product Development engineering departments. This position plays a vital role as a member of the plant leadership team and is instrumental in leading continuous improvement efforts, process efficiency improvements, validating processes and lean manufacturing initiatives. Accountable for the creation, development, design, and improvement of products in conformance with all regulations required for all products produced.  Also, is responsible for the selection or design of all special production/inspection machinery and tooling necessary to maintain manufacturing operations at competitive levels.  Providing leadership to the engineering group, the role is focused on exceeding plant objectives and supporting the overall operations of the business unit.&nbsp;Principle Responsibilities<ul><li>Serves as a member of the Management Team and contributes through functional expertise, counsel, and experience with meeting current and long-range business strategies and plans.  Acts as a leader/liaison between Manufacturing Engineering, Product Development, Global PMO, Quality, Operations and Customer Service to meet or exceed customer and business expectations. </li><li>Communicates and acts as liaison with other departments to facilitate engineering support to the facility and customers and prepare written/technical (can you clarify the computer?) reports concerning engineering. </li><li>Plans, conducts, and directs product development and manufacturing engineering projects to support the machining manufacturing processes which are difficult and complex in nature, necessitating the application of engineering knowledge and Lean Manufacturing skills. </li><li>Administers an engineering program of high technical competence and judgment, ensuring sound technical medical device engineering.  May originate and apply new and unique engineering methods and procedures – Lean, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, Design Control, Risk Management, etc. </li><li>Responsible for product and process development, launch and support including contract review, process validations, prototype development, pre-production operations, pilot production lots, transfer to full production and on-going support. </li><li>Responsible for site change control system, including Engineering Chanage Order and Process Change Order processes supporting CI, problem solving, and customer requested change initiatives.</li><li>Responsible for new business quoting activities through cross-functional team collaboration, value proposition, and timeline development as well as coordinate legacy product pricing initiatives.</li><li>Support Capital Project budgeting activities and investment initiatives including vendor/machine selection and Business Case/ROI, justification development and presentation. </li><li>Performs administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the engineering operations, including provision for the selection and employee counseling and motivation, meeting organization goals and objectives, and planning, organizing, integrating, and measuring the work performed within the engineering group. </li><li>Supervises, coordinates, trains, coaches, mentors, develops, and reviews the work of assigned staff. </li><li>Coordinates site Engineering CO-OP program for talent pipeline development (as applicable) </li><li>Administers company rules, regulations, policies, and ethics governing employment. </li><li>Maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned or necessitated by business conditions or changes. </li><li>Occasionally travels to customers and suppliers.&nbsp;</li></ul>Qualification RequirementsCredentials/Experience:<ul><li>B.S. Field Machinist

Functional aspect of the position&nbsp;Machinist focused on programming, setting up, and operating CNC Milling machines. Further they produce production parts to required tolerances and due dates.&nbsp;Essential Duties of the Position*&nbsp;Description of duty % of time spent on this task&nbsp;Programming, machine set up, and machine operation 80%<ul><li>Writes complex programs on the machine and offline on CAD/CAM software.</li><li>Designs and builds complex fixtures related to various machining operations.</li><li>Read blueprints, job travelers, work instructions, program and tooling sheets, quality documents and GD&amp;T; Ensures processes and operations are correct.</li><li>Sets up production machines following prints and specifications.</li><li>Chooses, aligns, and securely attaches holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and other materials on machines according to work instructions.</li><li>Applies knowledge of mathematics and instruments to calculate dimensions and tolerances.</li><li>Identifies malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; adjusts controls of machine to correct errors.</li><li>Inspects and measures completed production units to identify defects caused by machine setup.&nbsp;</li></ul>Workplace Safety and maintenance 10%<ul><li>Is responsible for taking care of routine machine maintenance and keeping work area in neat condition.</li><li>Proper and safe use of material handling equipment such as cranes, carts, etc.</li><li>Follows all company safety rules, including machine operation and guarding. Required knowledge, skills and abilities</li><li>Understands blueprints, job travelers, work instructions, program and tooling sheets, tooling specifications, quality documents and familiar with GD&amp;T.</li><li>Familiarity with Mastercam and SolidWorks or similar CAD/CAM software.</li><li>Use of inspection hand tools.</li><li>Strong math skills including algebra, geometry, basic trigonometry preferred.</li><li>Strong working knowledge with work holding, cutting tools, grinding wheels and shop supplies.</li><li>Ability to plan, program, setup and run production based on engineering drawings and related documentation.</li><li>Ability to follow quality plans and the proper use, care and calibration of inspection tooling and equipment.</li><li>Good communication skills; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and other stakeholders.</li><li>Ability to work independently or in a team.</li><li>Good time management Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities</li><li>Good working knowledge of material identification and processing characteristics and processes such as heat treatment etc.</li><li>Experience with hard milling.</li><li>Experience with Renishaw Inspection Plus software.&nbsp;</li></ul>Physical Requirements&nbsp;Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, standard lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, repetitive movements due primarily to computer work. Ability to operate and repair machines; prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending and stretching.
