CNC Machinist | Industrial Forestry Equipment Manufacturing Environment | Kithchener, ON

Under the direction of the supervisor, either directly or through the leadperson, set-up person, or programmer, this individual is responsible for the operation of a number of computerized, numerically controlled machines and related equipment to produce bearing components at optimum production and quality levels. Operations include but are not limited to turning, milling, deburring, buffing, tumbling, heat treat strike, etc. Working from engineering prints, verbal instructions and a CRT display, the employee is responsible for replacing worn or broken inserts or tools, adjusting and/or correcting offsets to compensate for tool wear. This employee will be responsible for inspecting own work and as such, must be able to use and interpret a wide variety of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, verniers, indicators, shadow gauges, air gages, talysurf, optical comparator, etc. The Operator-CNC Lathe is responsible for maintaining equipment in good working order through both periodic and proper lubrication and reporting of maintenance requirements. This individual must notify the leadperson or supervisor of maintenance issues in a timely manner. This person must keep the work area and machine clean and will be responsible for the segregation, identification and transportation of parts in the work area. Other responsibilities include maintaining accurate production records and counts, performing unusual or experimental work and performing any other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor. Basic computer skills are required for data collection as necessary.

CNC Programmer

CNC Operator-Short Cut POSITION SUMMARY Operates numerical control machines or machining centers to perform various machine functions. Packages materials, moves material, and prepares material for prepping and cleaning by performing the following duties. Must be willing to work any shift. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES <ul><li>Performs all duties per standard work and records all Safety, Quality, and TPM checks in accordance with Daily Operator Inspection, hour-by-hour charts, work instructions, and Repair Checklist.</li><li>Verifies all measuring and recording equipment is calibrated and working properly according to work instructions.</li><li>Verifies incoming material conducting appropriate dimensional and quality checks to ensure material meets customer requirements.</li></ul><ul><li>Builds packaging containers.</li><li>Lines and pads crates and assembles cartons.</li><li>Enters in dimensions for cut length.</li><li>Starts machine and monitors displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions.</li><li>Stops machine to change cutting tools according to required machining sequence or to inspect parts for conformance to specifications.</li><li>Enters commands or manually adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.</li><li>Operates machines manually to perform non-automated functions and when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.</li></ul><ul><li>Performs and records all quality checks to ensure the product meets specifications after machine set-ups are complete.</li></ul><ul><li>Loads cut parts into basket or container.</li><li>Moves basket with crane to prep waiting area.</li><li>Operates forklift and over-head crane to move and position material.</li><li>Discusses control media errors with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems.</li><li>Cleans machines, tooling, and parts.</li><li>Performs machine maintenance.</li><li>Performs any other duties as assigned.</li></ul> Supervisory Responsibilities (If applicable) There are no supervisory responsibilities assigned to this position.
