The Manual/CNC Machinist is a self-driven worker who has great attention for detail and is proficient at multitasking. The ideal candidate will perform the programming, setup, and operation of various machine tools. Open to part time and full time availability. How you will make an impact:<ul><li>Will be exposed to multiple machines and controllers including Haas, Mazak, and ProtoTrak on 2 and 3 axis manual and CNC milling machines and lathes in a prototype machine shop environment.</li><li>Work with SolidWorks, SolidCam or equivalent CAD/CAM software.</li><li>Cut and prepare raw materials.</li><li>Program, setup, and operate manual and CNC mills and lathes per shop personnel instruction.</li><li>Inspect finished parts to ensure accuracy.</li></ul>What you will need to be successful:<ul><li>3-5 years machining experience.</li><li>Experienced with the setup and operation of manual milling machines, lathes, and precision measuring equipment.</li><li>Familiarity with grinding, fitting, and deburring.</li><li>Basic understanding of blueprint reading.</li><li>SolidWorks/SolidCam experience a plus.</li><li>Be able to maintain a clean and organized work environment.</li><li>Familiarity with GD+T.</li><li>Strong communication skills required.</li><li>Willingness to learn and adapt to project requirements is essential. </li></ul> About DEKA: One hour from the beach, Boston, and the mountains, the historic Amoskeag Millyard once housed the largest textile mills in the world. Manual/CNC Machinist

As a CNC Machinist in our Optical Fabrication department, you will setup and run CNC equipment to produce high precision optical components Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Work from engineering drawings and process work instructions in accordance with established procedures, lean processes and standard work.</li> <li>Set up and operate CNC diamond turning, CNC grinding or CNC polishing machines in support of the production schedule.</li> <li>Collect, analyze, and report data for production processes requiring basic math and statistical knowledge.</li> <li>Manually clean optical surfaces using wipes and solvents</li> <li>Use metrology equipment to verify conformance of optical components to high precision specifications.</li></ul> Qualifications: <ul> <li>Must be a US Person as defined by 22 CFR 120.15 (Citizen, Permanent Resident).</li> <li>High school diploma or equivalent experience</li> <li>Possesses basic computer skills for entering data, reviewing process documentation, and operating computer-controlled equipment</li> <li>Ability to setup and run CNC manufacturing equipment</li> <li>Ability to perform measurements on high precision components</li> <li>Minimum of 2 years of relevant CNC machining production experience (examples include CNC Generating, CNC Grinding, CNC Polishing, and CNC Diamond Turning)</li> <li>May require occasional heavy lifting (&gt; 30 lbs) or movement of objects up to 40 lbs.</li> <li>Involves exposure to chemicals and solvents.</li> <li>Safety Glasses &amp; Latex Gloves are required.</li> <li>Must read, speak and understand English written instruction and documentation</li></ul> *This is an hourly position.
