π About Triatic
Triatic, Inc. has manufactured precision diamond and CBN (cubic boron nitride) wheels, tools, and abrasive products from its West Hartford, Connecticut facility since incorporating in 1992. Over more than three decades, the company has built a reputation for high-precision diamond and CBN tooling, including electroplated wheels, core and twist drills, hand and machine files, routers, saw blades, contour shape tooling, custom form wheels, and lapping compounds.
What sets Triatic apart is how tightly the whole process is held together: from the initial sale, through engineering and programming the tool design, to machining the steel tool bodies in-house, and finally plating the diamond or CBN abrasive β every step happens under one roof in the company's 10,000-square-foot facility. That kind of control lets Triatic manage timing and quality directly rather than depending on outside vendors for any part of the process, and the company says it stands behind every product it manufactures 100%.
For a machinist, that means the CNC work done here isn't a standalone job feeding somebody else's process β it's the middle step in a product Triatic designs, builds, and finishes itself, start to finish.
π Why you'll like working here
Triatic runs one shift, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM β no nights, no weekends, and no rotating schedule to work around. The shop is actively working to improve how it's organized day to day, which means there's real opportunity to help shape processes rather than just following a rulebook that's already set in stone.
The role leans heavily toward CNC lathe work (about 90% of the job), so it's a good fit for someone who wants to go deep on one type of machine rather than bounce between a dozen different setups β but there's real room to grow into full CNC programming over time as experience builds, not just run the same job forever. Machinists get 2 weeks of vacation to start, a 3rd week after about a year, health insurance, standard holidays including Columbus Day, and overtime when it's available.
βοΈ What you'll be working on
Day to day, this means setting up and operating CNC lathes β primarily 2-axis machines β with frequent changeovers between jobs, reading blueprints and GD&T callouts to plan each setup, selecting tooling and setting offsets, and troubleshooting issues that come up during setup or production runs. In-process quality gets checked with micrometers and indicators along the way. The role also touches Triatic's CNC mills and manual lathes when the work calls for it, and as experience grows there's room to start editing or writing CNC programs rather than just running someone else's. The parts coming off these machines are the steel tool bodies that eventually become Triatic's own finished diamond and CBN wheels, drills, files, and other precision tooling.

Other Production Equipment: Bridgeport mills and manual lathes; CAMWorks CAM software (Mastercam or similar experience transferable)
π Quality & inspection
Quality is checked in-process with micrometers and indicators throughout setup and production runs. Because Triatic manages engineering, machining, and plating all in-house, the company has direct oversight of quality at every stage of building a tool rather than depending on an outside vendor for part of the process β and it states it stands behind every product it manufactures 100%. No third-party quality certifications are listed on the company's site.
