CNC Lathe Machinist
Company: Triatic, Inc.
Location: West Hartford, CT 06110
Pay: Up to $49/hour, depending on experience
Job Type: Full Time
Shift: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
Experience: 3-5 years
Machines: Okuma & Haas CNC lathes, Okuma CNC mills, Bridgeport & manual lathes
Controls: Okuma, Haas
CAM Software: CAMWorks (Mastercam experience transferable)
Why this job is worth considering
Triatic is a high-mix manufacturer that needs a machinist to own CNC lathe setup and operation on 2-axis lathes, with real room to grow into full CNC programming over time. About 90% of the work in this role is lathe-based, so it's a strong fit for someone who wants to go deep on lathe work rather than bounce between a dozen different machine types. The shop runs one shift, Monday through Friday daytime hours, and gives machinists the independence to run their own work with support available when needed.
What you'll be doing
- Set up and operate CNC lathes, primarily 2-axis machines, with frequent changeovers between jobs
- Read blueprints and GD&T callouts to plan setups and hold tolerances
- Select tooling and set offsets for each job
- Troubleshoot issues during setup and production runs
- Perform in-process quality checks using micrometers and indicators
- Run CNC and manual equipment as needed
- Edit or write CNC programs as experience allows, with room to grow into more programming over time
Machines, controls and software
The primary daily equipment is Okuma CNC lathes and Haas CNC equipment, mostly 2-axis lathes with some conversational (Trak) programming. The role also touches Okuma CNC mills, 3- and 4-axis milling equipment, Bridgeport mills, and manual lathes. CAMWorks is the shop's primary CAM software; Mastercam or similar CAM experience is transferable.
