Why This Role Exists

This role exists to support continued growth and increasingly complex machining work across GP&C’s advanced manufacturing operations.

As a Senior CNC Machinist (Machinist III), you’ll play a key role in producing tight-tolerance, mission-critical components, supporting both production and engineering work while helping guide less experienced machinists.

The Work You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot:
  • CNC mills
  • CNC lathes
  • Manual mills and lathes
  • Waterjet machines
• Machine production and engineering / prototype parts
• Read and interpret advanced blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T
• Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and Mazatrol
• Select tooling, fixtures, offsets, and workholding
• Hold tight tolerances and ensure parts meet all specifications
• Perform in-process and first-article inspections
• Support preventative maintenance per PM schedules
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Assist in training and mentoring junior machinists and operators
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to solve machining challenges
• Follow all SOPs, engineering instructions, and safety requirements

This is a hands-on senior role with real ownership of quality and process execution.

What We’re Looking For

Required

• 7+ years of CNC and/or manual machining experience
• Strong experience with complex setups and troubleshooting
• CNC programming experience using G-code and Mazatrol
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
• Strong understanding of tooling, fixturing, offsets, and inspections
• Comfortable holding tight tolerances
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong math and precision measurement skills

Preferred (Not Required)

• Experience mentoring or training other machinists
• Experience machining composite materials
• Exposure to prototype or engineering-driven work
