Why this job is worth considering

Helander Metal Spinning Company is looking for a Quality Systems & Documentation Coordinator to manage quality documentation, controlled records, and customer-facing quality deliverables within an AS9100D quality system, while providing hands-on inspection backup when the team needs it. You'll own inspection reports, dimensional reports, FAI packages, and certificates of conformance, review travelers against customer prints and current standards, and keep Helander's document-control system running cleanly. This isn't a purely administrative role — you'll also pick up mechanical gaging work when the inspection team needs backup coverage. If you're organized, comfortable owning a document-control process end to end, and want real exposure to AS9100D quality systems in an aerospace manufacturing environment, this is a solid fit.

What you'll be doing

  • Administer quality documentation including inspection reports, dimensional reports, Certificates of Conformance (CoCs), FAI packages, and material certifications
  • Compile and complete customer documentation packages and dimensional reports per customer specifications
  • Review travelers to verify each operation matches the customer print and the latest applicable AS/ISO standard revision
  • Maintain controlled documentation in SharePoint and legacy document management systems per Helander's document control procedure
  • Verify inspection, FAI, and nonconformance documentation for accuracy and completeness before release to customers
  • Perform hands-on dimensional inspection as needed using mechanical gaging, and document findings
  • Support internal quality audits by retrieving records and maintaining audit trails

Equipment and software

You'll work with:

  • Mechanical inspection tools — calipers, micrometers, and indicators (backup/overflow inspection support)
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and SharePoint — for document control and customer documentation packages
  • CMM data — retrieving and formatting CMM inspection data for customer reports (no hands-on CMM programming required)

What we're looking for

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus 2+ years of experience in document control, quality records administration, or technical documentation
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail managing controlled documents
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint) and document management systems
  • Ability to interpret quality procedures, FAI requirements (AS9102), engineering drawings, and basic GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Comfortable using basic mechanical inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators)

Preferred:

  • Four-year technical degree, ideally with SQC/SPC exposure
  • Aerospace or AS9100D quality environment experience
  • CMM familiarity (operation or data extraction)
  • Metalworking or job-shop manufacturing experience
  • ITAR compliance or export-control awareness
  • Internal audit experience or ISO 9001 familiarity

Pay, benefits and schedule

Pay: $35–$45/hr, commensurate with experience and demonstrated documentation-control, inspection, and organizational capability. Final level and pay are based on demonstrated competency, not tenure.

Schedule: Day shift, on-site.

Benefits: 401(k) with a 100%-vested 4% match after 30 days, employer-paid health insurance (70–80% of premium), complimentary life, vision, and dental insurance, 9 paid holidays, 15 vacation days, 3 personal/sick days, and tuition reimbursement.
