Overview:
Factory Operations is seeking a highly skilled Level 3 Machinist with advanced 5-axis machining expertise. This role is responsible for independently setting up, programming, and operating DMG-Mori multi-axis CNC machining centers to produce large, high-precision components.
This is a senior-level position requiring strong technical judgment, the ability to solve complex machining challenges, and the capability to lead and mentor others. The successful candidate is expected to achieve independent productivity shortly after onboarding and contribute to process improvements and operational excellence.This role offers a career path toward Manufacturing Team Lead or Manufacturing Engineer, with company-supported development and advancement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:
• Independently set up and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining centers (vertical and/or horizontal)
• Perform complex machining operations including roughing, finishing, and precision boring

• Machine large, complex components (>4,000 lbs) to tight tolerances (±0.0005”)
• Develop and modify CNC programs using conversational and G-code programming
• Read and interpret G-code/M-code to troubleshoot and optimize toolpaths
• Collaborate on or independently create machining strategies for complex parts
• Lead or drive process improvements to reduce setup time, cycle time, and scrap
• Interpret complex blueprints and GD&T with multiple datums
• Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure conformance to the drawing
• Accurately measure large features (up to 25+ inches) using advanced metrology equipment
• Train and mentor machinists and operators across multiple work centers
• Serve as a technical resource and role model for machining best practices
• Apply lean manufacturing principles (SMED, 5S, value stream mapping, etc.)
• Identify and resolve machining issues using root cause analysis
• Advanced understanding of machining principles, materials, and cutting dynamics
• Expertise in multi-axis machining and workholding strategies
• High competency with precision measurement instruments
• Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving ability, and technical leadership
