The Work You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Set up and operate manual mills and lathes to produce precision components
- Lift, position, and secure workpieces using fixtures, chucks, centers, clamps, and hoists
- Read and interpret blueprints, layouts, and work orders
- Determine tooling, materials, and machining sequence
- Calculate dimensions, tolerances, feeds, speeds, and angles using shop math
- Align workpieces and verify setups using gauges, rules, and calipers
- Adjust machine controls to maintain specified tolerances
- Manually feed cutters or engage automatic feeds as required
- Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and depth mics
- Replace worn tooling and sharpen tools using bench grinders
- Maintain tools, machines, and a safe, organized work area
This is a true hands-on manual machining role with full responsibility for setup, execution, and inspection.

What We’re Looking For
Required
- 5+ years of manual machining experience
- Strong blueprint reading skills (ID/OD, surfaces, simple shapes)
- Ability to machine parts to specified tolerances
- Comfortable using calipers, micrometers, and depth micrometers
- Solid understanding of shop math and metal properties
- Motivated, accountable self-starter who can work independently
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred (Not Required)
- Lean manufacturing knowledge
- Experience working closely with production or engineering teams
