This is a hands-on role for a machinist who wants more responsibility than simply loading parts and pressing cycle start. Depending on experience, you will perform independent setups, prove out programs, select tooling and workholding, make control-level edits, inspect your work, and solve machining problems at the machine. More experienced candidates may also support new parts, tight-tolerance work, process development, and mentoring.

The position offers a four-day, 10-hour day-shift schedule and a $30–$45 hourly range. Placement at Machinist II or III will reflect demonstrated setup, programming, inspection, and troubleshooting capability. ⚙️ What you'll be doing

• Set up CNC mills or lathes, including workholding, tooling, offsets, program loading, and first-piece qualification
• Run production work to print while maintaining dimensional quality, surface finish, and cycle-time expectations
• Prove out new or revised programs and adjust toolpaths, feeds, speeds, and offsets
• Write, edit, and optimize G-code and M-code at the CNC control based on assigned skill level
• Select tooling, insert grades, workholding, and operation sequences for new or problem parts
• Read prints and models, including GD&T datums, feature-control frames, true position, and tolerance stack-ups
• Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment and translate inspection or CMM results into corrections
• Diagnose chatter, finish problems, dimensional drift, tool wear, breakage, and control alarms
• Document setups and support repeatable processes, preventive maintenance, 5S, and accurate production reporting
• Support less-experienced machinists and continuous-improvement work as experience warrants

• CNC mill-turn and multi-axis turning centers

• Manual lathes, mills, grinders, shapers, saws, presses, and deburring equipment

Programming and inspection:

• G-code and M-code editing, canned cycles, subprograms, and offsets
• Parametric or macro programming for qualified Level III candidates
• Micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, height gauges, thread gauges, surface plates, and optical comparators
• Mastercam or ESPRIT familiarity preferred
• Okuma OSP experience preferred

✅ What we're looking for

Required:

• 3+ years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment
• CNC mill or lathe setup experience, including tooling, workholding, offsets, and first-piece qualification
• Ability to read mechanical prints and apply GD&T and tolerance information
• Ability to edit G-code/M-code and make offsets or process corrections at the control
• Experience using micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, and other precision inspection tools
• Ability to diagnose tooling, finish, dimensional, and machine-process issues
• High school diploma or GED
• Safe, dependable work habits and clear communication

Preferred:

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience with fully independent setup and prove-out capability
• Experience holding tolerances to ±0.0005 inch when required by the print
• Mill-turn, multi-axis, live-tool, bar-fed, or twin-spindle experience
• Mastercam or ESPRIT familiarity
• Okuma OSP control experience
• Macro or parametric programming experience
• Experience training machinists or improving setup documentation
• Machining certificate, apprenticeship, NIMS credentials, or relevant OEM/control training
