5-Axis CNC Programmer

Pay: $40–$55/hr (DOE) + overtime
Location: Santa Ana, CA
Schedule: Full-time | Monday–Friday | ~10 hrs/week OT available

With 5-axis mills, multi-axis lathes, Swiss, EDM, and 24/7 lights-out automation, we machine complex components from titanium, Inconel, stainless steel, Hastelloy, Vespel, PEEK, and other demanding materials—holding tolerances down to ±0.0002”.

We are expanding rapidly and seeking an experienced CNC Programmer who thrives on solving complex machining challenges and pushing the limits of advanced 5-axis technology. What You’ll Do (Job Responsibilities)

• Program 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC mills, live-tooling lathes, Swiss lathes, and Wire EDM equipment.
• Review CAD models, blueprints, and GD&T to develop efficient machining strategies.
• Select optimal tools, holders, cutting parameters, and machining sequences for hard metals and engineered plastics.
• Match part requirements with the best machine platforms (Matsuura, Robodrill, Okuma, Nakamura, Citizen, etc.).
• Support machinists with setups, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Collaborate with programmers, machinists, and quality engineers to ensure repeatability, accuracy, and throughput.
• Participate in quoting, process planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to tooling strategies, fixture design concepts, and machining best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–5 years of CNC programming experience in a precision machining environment.
• Experience programming hard materials (titanium, Inconel, stainless, tool steels, or engineered plastics) on 3-axis or 4-axis mills
  OR experience programming 5-axis mills (even in aluminum applications).
• Strong understanding of feeds & speeds, toolpath strategies, GD&T, and precision machining principles.
• Ability to collaborate closely with machinists and support shop-floor execution.
• Eagerness to learn, grow, and work with cutting-edge automation and modern CNC technologies.

Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)

• Experience programming Matsuura 5-axis machines.
• Proficiency with Mastercam or ESPRIT CAM software.
• Exposure to AS9100 environments and structured quality systems.
• Familiarity with advanced inspection tools (CMM, Keyence, VisionGauge).
