đ About Team Penske
Team Penske is one of the most successful and recognized organizations in professional motorsports, with racing programs competing across NASCAR, IndyCar, IMSA, and other major series.
Based in Mooresville, North Carolina, its operation brings together specialists in engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, and race preparation. The in-house machine shop produces precision components that directly support Team Penskeâs racing programs in a fast-paced environment where quality, responsiveness, and performance are essential.
This is a Mazak-focused CNC shop equipped for advanced multi-axis milling and mill-turn machining. Machinists work from engineering drawings and CAD data to plan jobs, develop setups, select tooling and workholding, program components, manufacture fixtures, and inspect finished parts.
Because the shop supports multiple racing programs, the work is varied and priorities can change quickly. Machinists must be able to adapt, solve problems, and take ownership of a component from initial planning through final inspection.
For skilled machinists, Team Penske offers the opportunity to work with advanced CNC technology while contributing directly to some of the most recognizable teams and vehicles in North American motorsports.
đ Why youâll like working here
Team Penske offers a machining environment unlike a traditional production shop. The components manufactured in Mooresville directly support elite racing programs, giving machinists a clear connection between their work and its performance on the track.
The work involves more than operating a machine. Depending on the position and your experience, you may be responsible for planning machining processes, developing setups, programming with Mazatrol, editing EIA programs, selecting tooling, designing fixtures, and inspecting completed components.
Youâll work with advanced Mazak multi-axis and mill-turn equipment while collaborating with other experienced machine shop professionals. The high-mix environment provides regular opportunities to solve new machining challenges and strengthen your setup, programming, tooling, and problem-solving abilities.
This is a strong fit for machinists who enjoy technically challenging work, take pride in precision, and perform well in a fast-moving environment where deadlines matter.
âď¸ What youâll be working on
Machinists at Team Penske manufacture precision components supporting the organizationâs NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA racing programs.
The work is primarily high-mix and low-volume, with jobs planned from engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD data. Depending on the role, machinists may set up and operate CNC equipment, program new parts using Mazatrol, modify existing programs, and edit EIA code at the machine.
Machinists also determine workholding and toolholding requirements, assemble and preset tooling, design and manufacture fixtures, and perform inspections using digital and analog measuring instruments.
In addition to advanced CNC machining, team members may operate manual machines and saws, complete preventive maintenance, and assist with equipment troubleshooting or repairs when needed.
