🏭 About Metalcraft Precision Machining

Metalcraft Precision Machining is a family-owned CNC machine shop based in Elkhart, Indiana. Founded in 1997, the company has grown into a well-equipped precision manufacturing operation serving customers throughout the Michiana region and beyond.

Metalcraft supports a diverse customer base across aerospace, defense, automotive, medical, agriculture, marine, heavy machinery, industrial automation, and other precision-driven industries. Its broad range of work includes both one-off components and production parts, giving machinists exposure to different applications and machining challenges.

The shop’s core capabilities include CNC milling, CNC turning, wire EDM, EDM drilling, grinding, and precision inspection. Metalcraft has continued to invest in its equipment, with approximately 10 Haas CNC mills, 10 Haas CNC lathes, four Mitsubishi MV-series wire EDMs, and a Hexagon Global coordinate measuring machine with scanning capabilities.

Machining capabilities include 4-axis milling, 3D machining, Y-axis turning, live tooling, and automated loading. GibbsCAM is used to support CNC programming across the shop.

For experienced machinists, Metalcraft offers the chance to work with recognizable equipment, contribute throughout the machining process, and produce parts for a wide range of industries.

👍 Why you’ll like working here

Metalcraft is looking for machinists who understand more than basic machine operation. Its CNC machining careers are built around setup, tooling, troubleshooting, inspection, and making the adjustments required to produce quality parts.

The mix of one-off and production machining provides more variety than a strictly repetitive production environment. Experienced machinists can apply their knowledge of feeds, speeds, tooling, workholding, offsets, and G-code while working with modern Haas equipment.

As a family-owned company established nearly 30 years ago, Metalcraft also offers the stability of an experienced regional manufacturer. Employees have access to flexible scheduling, health insurance options, paid time off, paid holidays, and a 401(k) with company match.

⚙️ What you’ll be working on

Machinists at Metalcraft produce precision components for customers across several demanding industries. Depending on the position, the work may include setting up Haas CNC mills or lathes, selecting tooling, establishing offsets, setting fixtures or workholding, and machining parts from engineering drawings and CNC programs.

The shop handles both individual parts and production work. Machinists inspect their work using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment. They also troubleshoot machining or program issues and work with supervisors, programmers, and quality personnel to improve manufacturing processes.

The equipment provides exposure to 4-axis milling, 3D machining, Y-axis turning, live tooling, and automated production technology.
