About hireCNC Contract Staffing

hireCNC works only in CNC machining. We employ experienced machinists, setup machinists, operators and programmers on contract and contract-to-hire assignments, and place them at manufacturers across the country that need qualified people running machines now.

The roles you see under this profile are contract assignments that hireCNC fills for one of our manufacturing clients. The client's name stays confidential until you and a hireCNC recruiter have talked through the assignment. A recruiter who knows CNC will tell you the shop, the location, the machines and the hours before you commit to anything.

Why Machinists Take Contract Assignments With hireCNC

  • Real assignments on real machines, from manual mills and lathes through Swiss, mill-turn and 5-axis
  • Pay that reflects the skill, set by the role, the machines and the location, and listed on each job
  • Per diem on traveling assignments, typically $150 a day, seven days a week in most markets, because your hotel bill does not stop on Saturday
  • Overtime when it is genuinely available, with typical assignments running 45 to 55 hours a week
  • Work anywhere in the country, so you are not limited to what pays well within driving distance of home
  • A path to a permanent role: contract-to-hire options are available
  • We handle the recruiting and the back office, including onboarding, payroll, payroll taxes, workers' compensation and insurance. You show up and run parts

What You'll Be Working On

Contract assignments cover the work shops need covered fast: production backlogs, new programs ramping up, a key machinist who left, project work with a defined timeline, and vacation or leave coverage. Depending on the role, that can mean running and setting up CNC mills and lathes, proving out new jobs, editing or writing programs at the control or in CAM, first-piece inspection, and holding tight tolerances on aerospace, semiconductor and general precision work.

Every job lists the machines, controls, CAM software, shift, hours and pay up front, so you can see whether an assignment is worth leaving home for.

How a Contract Assignment Works

  • Apply on the job you are interested in
  • A hireCNC recruiter calls you to go over what you have actually run: machines, controls, programming level, setups, materials and the tolerances you hold
  • If it is a fit, you get the full assignment details: client, location, duration, hours, pay and per diem
  • We take care of onboarding and employment paperwork, then you start
  • When the assignment wraps up, we look at extending it, converting it to permanent, or placing you on the next one

Why Employers Use hireCNC Contract Machinists

Manufacturers use contract machinists to cover backlogs, ramp up new programs, bridge unexpected departures, staff defined projects, and keep production running while a permanent search is still underway. hireCNC screens every candidate on what they can actually do rather than what a resume says, so the person who shows up on the floor is ready to be productive.
