The Work You’ll Be Doing
Machinists at GIS Precision Machining work on a wide range of precision and industrial components, including:
- Small to medium precision-machined parts
- Aerospace and defense components
- Safety and homeland security-related parts
- Structural and industrial hardware
- Prototype and production machining runs
You will typically work in a high-mix environment where setups, precision, and repeatability matter. Parts often require tight tolerances and strict adherence to engineering drawings and specifications.
Core responsibilities include:
- CNC setup and operation for mills and lathes
- Programming or editing CNC programs (where applicable)
- Tool selection, offsets, and fixture setup
- First article and in-process inspection
- Working from blueprints and GD&T requirements
- Maintaining quality and consistency across production runs
- Supporting continuous improvement in machining efficiency and uptime
