The Work You’ll Be Doing

Machinists at GIS Precision Machining work on a wide range of precision and industrial components, including:

  • Small to medium precision-machined parts
  • Aerospace and defense components
  • Safety and homeland security-related parts
  • Structural and industrial hardware
  • Prototype and production machining runs

You will typically work in a high-mix environment where setups, precision, and repeatability matter. Parts often require tight tolerances and strict adherence to engineering drawings and specifications.

Core responsibilities include:

  • CNC setup and operation for mills and lathes
  • Programming or editing CNC programs (where applicable)
  • Tool selection, offsets, and fixture setup
  • First article and in-process inspection
  • Working from blueprints and GD&T requirements
  • Maintaining quality and consistency across production runs
  • Supporting continuous improvement in machining efficiency and uptime
