BASIC FUNCTION The function of the 2nd shift CNC Operator is to ensure all available machines can continue to run throughout 2nd shift and into third shift. PRIMARY DUTIES Novice <ul><li>Follow production orders as assigned by the supervisor.</li><li>Perform other functions related to the machine shop.</li><li>Maintain a safe and neat work environment and clean at the end of the shift.</li><li>Maintain an acceptable quality output per production order.</li><li>Able to understand basic drawings and measuring tools to confirm compliance.</li><li>Weigh count the completed parts production ran to verify quantity.</li><li>Deliver the finished machined parts to the Quality Control Shelf for final inspection</li></ul> Setup and Run Two <ul><li>Setup and run per work instructions to achieve the required specification, quality and quantity expectations as directed by the Supervisor.</li><li>Acquire all necessary tooling such as collets, drill chucks, end mills, drill bits, reamers, etc., and setup machine per instructions.</li><li>Prepare material for the appropriate machine in accordance with engineering specifications, procedures and work instructions including documentation of lot numbers for materials.</li><li>Ability to understand complicated drawings and measuring tools to confirm compliance.</li></ul>Program &amp; Setup and Run Four <ul><li>Setup and run per work instructions to achieve the required specifications, quality and quantity expectations as dictated by the department supervisor.</li><li>Pull up program for machine and refer to set-up instructions to be the first part run.</li><li>Prepare material for the appropriate machine in accordance with engineering specifications, procedures and work instructions including documentation of lot numbers for materials.</li><li>Acquire all necessary tooling such as collets, drill chucks, end mills, drill bits, and reamers, etc., and setup machine per instructions.</li><li>Measure all dimensions per drawing specifications.</li></ul>Setup and Run All Machines: <ul><li>Setup and run per work instructions to achieve the required specifications, quality and quantity expectations as directed by the department supervisor.</li><li>Prepare material for the appropriate machine in accordance with engineering specifications, procedures and work instructions including documentation of lot number for materials.</li><li>Acquire all necessary tooling such as collets, drill chucks, end mills, drill bits and reamers, etc., and setup machine per instructions</li></ul>Expert: <ul><li>Program and setup and run any machine per work instructions to achieve the required specifications, quality and quantity expectations as directed by the department supervisor.</li><li>Prepare material for the appropriate machine in accordance with engineering specifications, procedures and work instructions including documentation of lot number for materials.</li><li>Pull up program for machine and refer to setup instruction to begin the first part run.</li><li>Acquire all necessary tooling such as collets, drill chucks, end mills, drill bits and reamers, etc., and setup machine per instructions.</li><li>Measure all dimensions per drawing specifications.</li></ul>KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE <ul><li>High school diploma or GED preferred and/or Machine Tool Technology Certificate.</li><li>Ability to read and understand drawings, work instructions and other documents related to the job</li><li>Write legibly</li><li>Perform basic math operations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) with and without use of calculator</li><li>Ability top measure product using micrometers, calipers, scales, thread pitch gauges, thread micrometers, blade micrometers, depth micrometers, height gauge, core micrometers, etc.</li><li>Ability to operate digital scales for weighing of product.</li><li>Able to operate relatively complex production CNC machinery in addition to, the ability to operate manual lathes, milling machines and surface grinders, performing multiple interrelated operations and adjustments per drawing.</li><li>Willingness to be flexible and adjust to a changing work environment.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work. For more information, please visit our site: generant.com THIS IS FOR A 2ND SHIFT SCHEDULE - Monday - Friday: 03:00PM - 11:30PM Job Summary: The primary function of the 2nd Shift Lead CNC Machine Operator is to operate and load bars into the CNC machines in a productive, high quality, and safe manner, troubleshoot and assist Machine Operators on shift. They are also responsible for maintaining safe, clean machines and work environment. The Lead CNC Machine Operator is a driven, experienced CNC Machine Operator with goals to grow into a shift supervisor. Essential Functions • Functional understanding on how to read engineering drawings • Understand and confirm proper paperwork, tools, gages, and bar stock material are present for the job • Inspect parts using the visual comparator, caliper, eye loop, appropriate gages, and instruments ensuring machine is producing accurate, quality parts • Perform visual inspection of parts for burrs, chatters, chamfer irregularities, tits, hexes, surface finish, etc. always confirming with engineering print and first part inspection sample • Assign machines to operators based on their skill level and capabilities to optimize spindle uptime. • Assist operators with offset adjustments • Troubleshoot machines and bar feeders to maintain production efficiency • Support the team with inspections when necessary to ensure a high level of quality • Assist with operator training • Work with minimal supervision • Ensure smooth transition of job requirements from CNC Setup personnel to CNC Operators and from shift to shift • Monitor and enforce Operator performance by working alongside Operators • Be known and available for Operator questions in order to ensure machines are kept running and producing quality parts • Verify Operator production reporting is accurate • Identify and report machine repair and maintenance issues and prioritize those within the CNC department for the maintenance department • Monitor and enforce Company quality, job requirement and safety policies and procedures ensuring a productive, safe working environment • Ensure Operators are equipped with eye loops and calipers to do their job • Maintain clean and safe working environment including segregation and proper disposal of scrap material • Suggest process improvements and equipment purchases • Interact with other areas in the company to accomplish timely workflow • Comply with and promote Company Quality and Safety Policies and Strategic Business Objectives • Perform other assignments as required Requirements Qualifications: Experience/Education/Skills • High School Diploma or equivalent • A minimum of 3 years of experience working with CNC machines and metal part production is required • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings • Must have a complete knowledge of metrology equipment and their uses including micrometers, calipers, indicators, depth micrometers, gauge pins, thread gauges and optical comparators • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications Language Skills: • Fluent in English and have the ability to communicate to convey information clearly to a multi-lingual production staff Mathematical Skills: • Advanced Math Skills (statistics, basic accounting) Reasoning Ability: • Ability to carry out detailed, involved written and verbal instructions Physical Demands: Must frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds When performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, use hands to finger or handle or feel objects and tools or controls and talk or hear Employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms Employee is required to monitor workflow of all personnel in the CNC Area Specific vision abilities require close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
