Delta Technologies is an industry leading tooling company who is searching for a CNC Machinist Apprentice for 1st or 2nd shift. The Apprentice works from designs to build and repair thermoplastic and thermoset injection molds to company standards. Our customers are automotive manufacturers and suppliers in one of the fastest growing automotive regions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Learn to study designs of Press Tools and Plastic Injection molds, and prototype parts and visualizes shape, mechanical structure, and operation of the die and mold. Understanding application of Jigs and Fixtures.</li> <li>Learn machine set-ups, adjusting speeds, feeds, and depth of cut, to machined parts to specifications set forth in designs, engineering orders, etc.</li> <li>Learn to checks machined parts for conformance to prescribed tolerances.</li> <li>Required to operate numerical control machines.</li></ul> Qualifications <ul> <li>Be willing and able to follow instruction.</li> <li>Set-up and safely operate Vertical Milling Machines, Surface Grinders, Overhead Cranes, Saws.</li> <li>Proficient aptitude and basic hand tool experience.</li> <li>Ability to aid in moving, disassembling, cleaning molds and components in a safe manner.</li> <li>Understand the importance of accurate documentation and follow described methods and procedures.</li> <li>Recognize the challenges of the trade and demonstrate a willingness to learn and desire to advance.</li></ul>On the job training will be provided Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. CNC Machinist Apprentice

Description Consideration for Fall of 2024 is CLOSED. We are now accepting applications for the next class (August 2025). Our CNC Machinist Apprentice program is a combination of classroom training along with working alongside a skilled CNC Machinist. After completing 648 hours of hands-on learning and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training, the Apprentice will obtain the Department of Labor Machinist Journeyman's card with 27 articulated credits towards an associate degree in manufacturing. The Machinist Apprentice will learn how to set-up and operate single and/or multiple spindle machines while monitoring and controlling the quality of machining processes by utilizing process control tools. The Machinist Apprentice will work with an experienced Machinist/Trainor/Mentor to maintain the production processes and work within the expected quality standards and efficiencies that are established for the product line. CNC Machinist Apprentice Responsibilities: <ul><li>Operate manual and automated machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.</li><li>Maintain and repair machine tools and equipment.</li><li>Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or technical orders to determine the specific operation to be performed.</li><li>Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.</li><li>Set up and adjust machines, such as lathes, milling machines and grinders</li><li>Read part prints and job orders for all product specifications, i.e., dimensions, tolerances, inspection, number of parts to be machined and tooling instructions such as cutting speeds, feed rates, depth of cuts, and cutting tools required</li><li>Use machine controls to cycle machine through; production operations, set-up, adjusting tool positions, and changing tools. Also, to review machine operating criteria such as cycle time and spindle rpm</li><li>Install specified collets, bushings, and stock pushers onto stock feeding mechanism and loads bar stock into feeding mechanism.</li><li>Install and adjust specified cams, gears and stops to control stock and tool movements at each station.</li><li>Change, position and secure tools in tool holders by utilizing tool monitoring system and presetting equipment.</li><li>Perform first piece sample inspection according to the operation control plan. By utilizing qualified measuring devices, the machinist monitors the part dimensions through continuous checking of part features and process control tools (such as SPC).</li><li>Maintain all lubricants and coolants, and other operator maintenance, on the machine that are used in daily operation.</li><li>Perform data collection and communication tasks in Epicor and other applications.</li><li>Keep work area clean and organized.</li><li>Participate in continuous improvement activities and use the accepted tools, such as -- brainstorming, C&amp;E, tool tryout sheets.</li><li>Other duties and tasks as assigned.</li></ul> Skills &amp; Abilities <ul><li> Fundamental machining principles; turning, milling, grinding.</li><li> Fundamental understanding of machining theory, including x, y and z axis, along with edge and centerline pickup.</li><li> Reading and interpreting technical documentation; including blueprints. </li><li> Proper use of metric scales, micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators and various other gauges.</li><li> Required to be on feet ten to twelve hours per day using their hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear around machinery.</li><li> Required to frequently walk, sit, stoop, kneel or crouch; under, over and around machines. </li><li> Capable of lifting and moving up to 25 pounds potentially on a frequent basis.</li><li> Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus on optical devices. Use of microscopes, magnifiers, and optical comparators will be expected.</li><li> Individuals will safely work near moving mechanical parts of machinery and electrically activated devices.
