We're looking for a CNC Operator to join our Nisku team who is used to working in high volume, fast production environments, where it's critical you have experience with the full threading process from preparation to completion. Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, the Operator is responsible for operating CNC machines in a safe and efficient manner, finishing product accurately so as to reduce non-compliance pieces and working effectively with the Supervisor and other team members to get orders completed and shipped on time. What You'll Do Role accountabilities include, but are not limited to: <ul><li>Interpret production order information, including part descriptions, material grade, documents and drawings.</li><li>Read and interpret drawings and blueprints to operate CNC machines in a responsible, diligent and efficient manner. Update and sign off production orders as required.</li><li>Understand the sequence of operations for a production order.</li><li>Carry out work order instructions to program CNC machines to customer specifications.</li><li>Set up, operate and monitor CNC machines, fixing programs during production runs as required. Use measuring tools, gauges and controls as required.</li><li>Manufacture routine, complex and non-routine parts from raw materials.</li><li>Use overhead cranes and pallet jacks to safely maneuver raw material/ finished product within the manufacturing plant. Handle materials and equipment with care to ensure raw materials are not damaged while being machined. Report any concerns to the Plant Supervisor.</li><li>Complete work orders within deadlines, utilizing appropriate resources for each job. Plans and prioritizes workload, adjusting for problems and working with the Plant Supervisor to address them.</li><li>Maintain the CNC Machine area and equipment daily. Job Purpose The CNC/PC Based Operators are responsible for operating CNC/PC machines to cut and produce the plates, angles, and beams for required jobs. Responsibilities <ul><li>Displays a commitment to Waiward's incident-free vision, values, and culture.</li><li>Performs pre-use inspections on machine before using.</li><li>Trouble shoots problems with CNC/PC based machines being operated.</li><li>Marks pieces appropriately and stacks accordingly with the use of overhead crane.</li><li>Requests material for machine as needed.</li><li>Maintains accurate paperwork (maintenance book filled out and accurate heat numbers).</li><li>Runs CNC/PC based machine assigned.</li><li>Completes housekeeping tasks.</li><li>Attends daily toolbox meetings.</li><li>Follows work schedules.</li><li>Completes tasks with minimal NCR's.</li><li>Properly and consistently follow and document established procedures.</li><li>Reads, understands and complies with Waiward's safety policy, safe work practices, procedures and rules.</li><li>Ensures wearing appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.</li><li>Reports personal injuries, no matter how minor, and obtains medical attention as required.</li><li>May perform other related duties as assigned.</li></ul>Qualifications <ul><li>Minimum high school diploma required.</li><li>Experience within a steel industry is considered an asset.</li><li>Previous skill with using a steel cutting saw is also considered an asset.</li><li>Demonstrates a solid understanding of reading blue prints both in metric and imperial.</li><li>Knowledge of computer based software such as Peddimat.</li><li>Knowledge of programming beams, channels, HSS, and angles.</li><li>Ability to compare drawings with CamData to ensure work is correct.</li><li>Team player, friendly and have a professional attitude.</li><li>Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills that are complemented by effective interpersonal, oral and written communication.</li><li>Basic and Advanced Rigging Course an asset.</li><li>Fire Extinguisher Training an asset.</li><li>FLHA Training an asset;</li><li>Overhead Crane Operator required (can be internally delivered).</li><li>WHMIS</li></ul> Working Conditions The incumbent is required to work in a fabrication shop with moderate noise.
