About the Role

Made Cascade is hiring a Sheet Metal Technician to run CNC press brakes and laser cutting equipment in both prototype/R&D and production settings. You’ll handle true job-shop sheet metal work—from programming and forming to finishing and packaging—while juggling a dynamic mix of one-off prototypes and recurring production orders. The ideal candidate brings a maker’s mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to keep a tight schedule moving.

Materials include mild steel, stainless, and aluminum, with occasional deliveries to local clients in the greater Seattle area.

What You’ll Do

  • Operate CNC laser and CNC press brake (plus manual equipment as needed) for prototyping and production
  • Program parts at the console; set up tooling, verify first articles, and run short/medium batches
  • Bounce between machines and run multiple jobs while maintaining quality and throughput
  • Read/interpret manufacturing drawings; create and revise shop documentation as needed
  • Perform deburring, polishing, cleaning, and prep for finishing/packaging
  • Install hardware/fasteners (e.g., PEM/standoffs) and verify specs
  • Perform QC/dimensional inspections and keep tight tolerances
  • Own daily maintenance (fluids, chip/slag clearing) and keep a clean, safe work area
  • Collaborate with engineering on R&D prototypes; offer DFM/DFB feedback to improve designs
  • Help teammates on shop projects during downtime

Qualifications

  • Trade school training in sheet metal fabrication or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Solid math and print-reading skills; comfortable programming at the machine
  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication, fastener installation, and general shop practices
  • Nice-to-have: Amada control experience, Laguna laser familiarity, MIG/TIG welding, advanced fabrication

Physical Requirements

  • Stand/sit for extended periods in a busy shop; use required PPE
  • Lift/move 10–50 lbs regularly; operate a pallet jack/forklift (training available)
  • Comfortable with hand/power tools and occasional facility moves/assists

Benefits & Perks

  • Flexible schedule (with occasional remote CAD/admin work)
  • Overtime eligible
  • Subsidized Medical, Dental, Vision
  • 401(k) plan
  • 14 days PTO (7 vacation + 7 sick)
  • 8 paid holidays
  • After-hours access to the R&D shop for personal projects
