Company: MyHeatSinks, Inc.
Location: Livermore, CA 94551 (on-site)
Pay: $48–$63 per hour, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time
Shift: Monday–Friday, daytime hours
Experience: 5+ years of CNC programming and machining
Machines: Haas CNC machining centers (3-axis and 3+2-axis), Trinity automated pallet system with FANUC robot
Controls: Haas
CAM Software: Autodesk Fusion 360 (Mastercam programmers willing to switch are welcome)

Why this job is worth considering

MyHeatSinks is looking for a Senior CNC Programmer to take CNC milling programs from customer drawings and 3D models through setup and production. The work splits roughly 60% programming and 40% hands-on machine operation and production support, so you stay close to the machines.

About 90% of the programming is 3-axis, with the rest 3+2-axis (indexed). Production programming is done in Autodesk Fusion 360, and Mastercam programmers who are willing to make the switch are welcome to apply. For an exceptionally qualified candidate, the role can grow into lead CNC programmer, with more responsibility for programming methods, machining processes and production improvements.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop, simulate and optimize CNC milling programs in Autodesk Fusion 360, mostly 3-axis with about 10% 3+2-axis (indexed) work.
  • Set up, prove out, troubleshoot and operate Haas CNC machining centers, including machines set up for 3+2-axis machining and three 3-axis CNC mills.
  • Design practical workholding, including soft jaws, fixture plates, vises and custom clamps.
  • Select cutting tools, set machining strategies and work offsets, and improve efficiency, accuracy and tool life.
  • Support the Trinity automated pallet system with FANUC robotic loading and unloading, including pallet preparation and keeping production flowing.
  • Read engineering drawings including GD&T, verify first articles, and adjust programs or setups to hold spec.
  • Program and operate other production machines as needed, including equipment that needs simple programs written at the control.
  • Help with loading and unloading workpieces, troubleshooting and other hands-on shop work.

Machines, controls and software

  • Haas CNC machining centers, including machines configured for 3+2-axis machining, plus three 3-axis CNC mills
  • Trinity automated pallet system with FANUC robotic loading and unloading
  • Autodesk Fusion 360 for production programming; Mastercam experience welcome

What we're looking for

Required

  • 5+ years of CNC programming and machining experience, with strong 3-axis milling expertise.
  • Experience programming 3+2-axis (indexed) operations. Simultaneous 5-axis programming experience is not required.
  • Strong CAM skills in Autodesk Fusion 360 and/or Mastercam. Experienced Mastercam programmers who are willing and able to transition to Fusion 360 are welcome.
  • Ability to independently interpret customer engineering drawings, 3D models, dimensional tolerances and GD&T.
  • Experience designing workholding solutions and machining fixtures.
  • Solid understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, work offsets and machine setup.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining problems and optimize programs for quality, efficiency and repeatability.
  • Willingness to work hands-on with CNC equipment and help with production.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Certain projects may be subject to additional U.S. export-control or government contract requirements.

Preferred

  • Experience programming and operating Haas CNC machines.
  • Experience with automated pallet systems, robotic loading and unloading, or FANUC robots.
  • Experience with unattended machining and production process optimization.
  • Ability to independently manage complex machining jobs from programming through production.
  • Experience guiding other machinists or improving shop-wide CNC programming practices.

Pay, benefits and schedule

  • Pay: $48–$63 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, daytime hours. Occasional overtime may be required, typically 0–5 additional hours per week when needed.
  • Medical and dental: The company covers 50% of employee premiums and 25% of dependent premiums. Coverage begins based on hire date, per company policy.
  • Retirement: SIMPLE IRA with a 3% company match after 90 days.
  • Paid time off: 10 vacation days in the first year, plus company holidays and sick leave.
  • Work environment: A collaborative, hands-on manufacturing team with opportunities to take ownership of challenging projects and contribute directly to process improvements.
