What you'll be doing

• Create and maintain CNC programs in Mastercam 2026 for simultaneous 5-axis, indexed 5-axis/3+2, and 3-axis machining
• Develop machining strategies for aerospace and defense components in aluminum, stainless, titanium, and other difficult materials
• Select tooling, toolpaths, feeds and speeds, and workholding for each job
• Validate programs before floor release by reviewing models, prints, GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturing notes
• Support setup machinists during prove-out and first article, troubleshooting issues as they come up
• Identify collision, clearance, and workholding risks before they reach the floor
• Incorporate floor feedback into program revisions, and optimize existing programs for cycle time, tool life, and reliability
• Maintain revision-controlled programs, document changes, and help standardize proven strategies

Machines, controls and software

Okuma Genos M560 5-axis, Mazak 5-axis, and DMG MORI 5-axis machining centers, plus Hardinge and Bridgeport VMCs equipped with Nikken 5-axis/3+2 rotary trunnion capability. Controls include Fanuc, Siemens, Mazak, and Okuma. Programming is done in Mastercam 2026, with precision inspection and CMM capability supporting first article and in-process checks.

What we're looking for

Required

• Significant hands-on CNC programming experience, with proven simultaneous 5-axis programming — not just indexed 3+2
• Highly proficient with Mastercam
• Understands machining physics, not just CAM simulation
• Able to independently interpret complex prints, models, and GD&T
• Experience with tight-tolerance aerospace, defense, or medical components
• Solid understanding of tooling, workholding, and machine limitations
• Organized and disciplined about revision control and documentation

Preferred

• Track record of writing programs for the machinist on the floor, not just to get a simulation to run
• Takes floor feedback seriously and incorporates it into revisions

Pay, benefits and schedule

This role pays $50–$60 per hour, based on demonstrated capability. It's a full-time position, paid bi-weekly. Benefits include PTO, paid holidays, and health, dental, and vision insurance options. Additional benefits details will be discussed during the interview process.
