Senior CNC Programmer – 3-Axis & 3+2-Axis (Fusion 360)

MyHeatSinks, Inc. | Livermore, CA | Full-Time, On-Site

Pay: $48–$63 per hour, depending on experience

About Us

MyHeatSinks, Inc. is a precision manufacturer specializing in advanced thermal management products, heat sinks, and custom machined components. Our Livermore facility operates HAAS CNC machining centers supporting 3-axis and 3+2-axis machining, along with an automated pallet system equipped with a FANUC robot.

We are seeking an experienced Senior CNC Programmer with strong CNC milling expertise to join our manufacturing team.

The ideal candidate can independently develop CNC programs from customer drawings and 3D models, design effective workholding solutions, and support machine setup and production.

This is primarily a CNC programming position (approximately 60% programming and 40% machine operation and production support). Approximately 90% of our programming involves 3-axis machining, while 10% involves 3+2-axis (indexed) machining.

We are looking for a capable programmer who also enjoys hands-on manufacturing, troubleshooting, and improving machining processes.

For exceptionally qualified candidates, this position offers the opportunity to serve as our lead CNC programmer, taking greater responsibility for programming methods, machining processes, and production improvements.

Key Responsibilities

CNC Programming: Develop, simulate, and optimize CNC milling programs using Autodesk Fusion 360, primarily for 3-axis machining, with approximately 10% involving 3+2-axis (indexed) machining.

Machine Setup & Operation: Set up, prove out, troubleshoot, and operate HAAS CNC machining centers, including machines configured for 3+2-axis machining and our three 3-axis CNC mills.

Workholding & Fixture Design: Develop practical and efficient workholding solutions, including soft jaws, fixture plates, vises, and custom clamps.

Process Optimization: Select cutting tools, establish machining strategies, set work offsets, and improve machining efficiency, accuracy, and tool life.

Automated Manufacturing: Support our Trinity automated pallet system with FANUC robotic loading/unloading, including pallet preparation and maintaining efficient production flow.

Quality Control: Interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T, verify first articles, and make programming or setup adjustments to meet specifications.

Additional Equipment: Program and operate other production machines as needed, including equipment requiring simple programs written directly at the machine control.

Production Support: Assist with loading/unloading workpieces, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and other hands-on shop activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of CNC programming and machining experience, with strong expertise in 3-axis CNC milling.

Experience programming 3+2-axis (indexed) machining operations. Simultaneous 5- axis programming experience is not required.

Strong CAM programming skills using Autodesk Fusion 360 and/or Mastercam. Our production programming is performed in Fusion 360, but experienced Mastercam programmers who are willing and able to transition to Fusion 360 are welcome to apply.

Ability to independently interpret customer engineering drawings, 3D models, dimensional tolerances, and GD&T.

Experience designing workholding solutions and machining fixtures.

Solid understanding of CNC machining processes, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, work offsets, and machine setup.

Ability to troubleshoot machining problems and optimize programs for quality, efficiency, and repeatability.

Willingness to work hands-on with CNC equipment and assist with production operations.

Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Certain projects may be subject to additional U.S. export-control or government contract requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience programming and operating HAAS CNC machines.

Experience with automated pallet systems, robotic loading/unloading, or FANUC robots.

Experience with unattended machining and production process optimization.

Ability to independently manage complex machining jobs from programming through production.

Experience guiding other machinists or improving shop-wide CNC programming practices.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly pay: $48–$63, depending on qualifications and experience.

Medical and dental insurance: The company covers 50% of employee premiums and 25% of dependent premiums. Coverage begins based on hire date, per company policy.

Retirement plan: SIMPLE IRA with a 3% company match after 90 days.

Paid vacation: 10 days during the first year, plus company holidays and sick leave.

Work schedule: Monday through Friday, daytime hours. Occasional overtime may be required, typically 0–5 additional hours per week when needed.

Work environment: A collaborative, hands-on manufacturing team with opportunities to take ownership of challenging projects and contribute directly to process improvements.
