As Siemens Energy continues expanding its manufacturing and service capabilities for gas turbines and power generation equipment, we are growing our large-part machining team in Charlotte, NC.
This role is responsible for machining critical turbine and rotor components using large Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs) and Vertical Boring Mills (VBMs). These components help power energy infrastructure around the world and require skilled machinists capable of holding tight tolerances on large, complex workpieces.

The Work You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Set up and operate large CNC Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs) and Vertical Boring Mills (VBMs)
- Machine large turbine, rotor, and power generation components
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements
- Select tooling, fixtures, workholding, and machine setups
- Load, run, and monitor CNC programs
- Adjust offsets, tooling, feeds, and speeds to maintain quality and productivity
- Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections
- Verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments
- Maintain tolerance and surface finish requirements on large-diameter components
- Safely move and position workpieces using overhead cranes and forklifts
- Complete production and quality documentation accurately
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives

What We're Looking For
Required
- 3+ years of experience operating CNC Vertical Boring Mills, Vertical Turning Lathes, or similar large CNC machine tools
- Experience with Siemens and/or FANUC controls
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T
- Strong understanding of machine setups, tooling, and workholding
- Experience using precision measuring instruments
- Ability to maintain tight tolerances on large components
- Ability to obtain Fork Truck certification
- Ability to obtain Critical Lift (B+) crane certification
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to follow written, verbal, and graphical work instructions
- Ability to earn an ACT® WorkKeys® National Career Readiness Certificate (Silver Level or higher)
Preferred
- Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) experience
- Large-diameter machining experience
- Experience machining turbine, power generation, aerospace, or heavy industrial components
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives
- Experience with Mazak or Haas controls
