About the Role

Systematic Manufacturing Inc. is seeking a second shift lead machinist to serve as the cornerstone of our evening operations. This role is designed for an experienced machinist who leads by example, supports their team, and takes ownership of quality, consistency, and problem-solving on the shop floor.

You’ll work hands-on with manual and CNC mills and lathes, support production flow, mentor junior machinists, and help drive continuous improvement. Swiss machining experience is not required — we’re happy to train the right leader who brings the right mindset.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead a small second-shift team and oversee day-to-day shop operations
• Train, mentor, and support junior machinists and new hires
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot manual and CNC mills and lathes
• Ensure safe, clean, and efficient shop practices throughout the shift
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and production issues as they arise
• Collaborate with programmers and engineers to resolve production challenges
• Learn and assist with Swiss machining as needed (training provided)
• Maintain clear communication with day shift and leadership
• Report issues, propose solutions, and keep production moving
• Be a dependable, fair, and consistent leader others can rely on

What You Bring

• 5+ years of machining experience (mills and lathes preferred)
• Experience with or interest in learning Swiss machining
• Natural leadership traits — calm under pressure, respected by peers
• Ability to read blueprints, measure precisely, and troubleshoot independently
• Strong pride in workmanship and a commitment to personal and team growth
