Quality Inspector I / II / III

Position Summary

The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing inspections of components, subassemblies, and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements. Inspectors use a variety of measurement and inspection tools to verify product conformity and accurately document inspection results. Responsibilities and expectations increase with experience and competency level.

General Responsibilities (All Levels)

• Perform visual inspections of components, subassemblies, and assemblies.
• Utilize inspection and measurement tools to verify compliance with requirements.
• Conduct receiving and in-process inspections.
• Accurately record inspection results and maintain inspection documentation.
• Follow company quality standards, policies, procedures, and objectives.
• Work effectively with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve issues and support continuous improvement.
• Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all safety requirements.

Physical Requirements (All Levels)

• Must be capable of performing the physical demands of the position while using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Occasionally lift and move up to 50-70 pounds.
• Stand for up to 80% of the workday, including on uneven surfaces.
• Move throughout the workday and frequently bend, stoop, and reach as required by job duties.

Quality Inspector I

Responsibilities

• Perform basic visual inspections.
• Utilize basic inspection and measuring tools.
• Read and understand basic engineering drawings.
• Conduct receiving inspections and in-process inspections.
• Inspect components, subassemblies, and assemblies.
• Record accurate inspection data in inspection reports.
• Become familiar with company concepts, procedures, policies, and objectives.

Qualifications

• 0-1 year of experience in inspection, manufacturing, quality, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of inspection methods and measurement tools.
• Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

Quality Inspector II

Responsibilities

• Perform all duties of Quality Inspector I.
• Read and interpret complete engineering drawings and requirements.
• Inspect more complex components and assemblies.
• Perform First Article Inspections (FAI).
• Apply and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
• Utilize experience and judgment to plan, prioritize, and accomplish assigned work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in inspection, manufacturing, quality, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of engineering drawings and specifications.
• Understanding of GD&T principles and inspection techniques.
• Proven ability to inspect complex components using appropriate inspection equipment.

Quality Inspector III

Responsibilities

• Perform all duties of Quality Inspector II.
• Read and interpret complete engineering drawings, specifications, and associated quality requirements.
• Inspect all manufactured components and assemblies.
• Utilize extensive experience and knowledge to work independently and provide leadership within the quality team.
• Make disposition recommendations regarding rework or scrap of nonconforming parts in accordance with company procedures.
• Set up and operate all available inspection tools and equipment.
• Support and mentor the less experienced inspectors to ensure quality objectives are achieved in a timely and effective manner.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in inspection, manufacturing, quality, or a related field.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
• Demonstrated expertise in inspection methods, equipment, and quality requirements.
• Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and provide technical guidance to others.
