Quality Inspector

Position Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring products meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements, including ASME code requirements, when applicable. This role involves inspecting, testing, evaluating materials, parts, and products throughout the production process to identify defects, inconsistencies, or deviations from specifications, ensuring adherence to quality standards.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Conduct in-process and final testing/inspections on materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to quality standards
• Accept or reject products, parts or materials that fail to meet specifications
• Identify and report product defects and deviations, recommending and assisting with corrective actions
• Compare produced goods to blueprints/drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy
• Perform visual, dimensional, and NDE/NDT inspection on materials, components and finished products
• Utilize gauges, calipers, and micrometers to measure product dimensions
• Conduct NDT methods such as UT, MT, PT and RT
• Maintain and calibrate measurement equipment to ensure accurate operations
• Maintain records of inspection and/or test data
• Communicate inspection/test results with appropriate staff or management
• Identity nonconforming materials and support root cause and corrective action processes
• Identify opportunities continuous process improvements
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental guidelines

Minimum Qualifications

• Quality Control experience in a manufacturing environment
• Working knowledge of quality control methodologies and systems
• Working knowledge of basic fabrication, welding techniques, weld procedures, and machining procedures
• Working knowledge of required maintenance, in-transit, and permanent records
• Knowledge and understanding of the various NDE processes
• Ability to interpret drawings, customer specifications and standards of moderate complexity
• Ability to create QA/QC reports and to interpret statistical data
• Experience working within an ISO-9001 environment
• Experience working within an ERP system
• Knowledge of ASME boiler and pressure vessel codes and ASME Section 1 codes - a plus
• Knowledge of ASME Code, Section 8, Division 1 & 2 – a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read, write and speak in the English language

Work Conditions/Environment

Majority of work will be performed in a plant manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures. Ability to work weekends, over and on call as needed. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.


Physical Demands


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk; use hands and fingers to feel and handle, reach with arms and hands, talk and hear. The employee may be required to bend, twist, stoop, crouch or kneel on an infrequent basis. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
