Why This Role Exists
This role exists to strengthen Rennscott’s quality assurance function across manufacturing, machining, and additive production. As production volume and complexity increase, this position ensures that every part meets strict engineering, customer, and regulatory requirements before shipment.
At Rennscott, quality is not a final step—it is built into every stage of the process. This role is critical in protecting customer trust, reducing non-conformance risk, and supporting continuous improvement across production workflows.
The Work You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections to ensure part quality at every stage
- Conduct dimensional inspections using precision tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, etc.)
- Identify and document visual defects (scratches, burrs, surface finish issues, coating defects, contamination)
- Operate CMM (Zeiss / Calypso) for pre-programmed inspection routines
- Load/unload parts, verify setups, and interpret inspection results
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements
- Maintain accurate inspection records in ProShop MES
- Support non-conformance reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Communicate clearly with machinists and engineers regarding defects and deviations
- Provide real-time feedback to help identify process-related issues
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist in additional shop support tasks when required (cross-functional role exposure)

- CMM Systems: Zeiss (Calypso software)
- Measurement Tools: Micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges
- Software: ProShop MES
- Engineering Docs: Technical drawings, GD&T standards
Materials & Components
You may inspect parts made from:
- Aluminum
- Stainless steel
- Alloy steels
- Titanium
- Plastics and engineered materials
- Additively manufactured (3D printed) components
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Certificate or degree in machining, metrology, QC, or related technical field OR equivalent hands-on training
- Entry-level welcome (full training provided)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Basic understanding of GD&T principles
- Familiarity with precision measurement tools
- Strong attention to detail and accountability
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Level II Requirement (if applicable)
- 2+ years of quality inspection experience
Preferred
- Experience with CMM (Zeiss / Calypso)
- Knowledge of SPC, FMEA, control plans
- ASQ or quality certifications
