Why This Role Exists
Colinear Aerospace continues to expand its aerospace machining capacity and requires experienced machinists who can independently set up and run 4th-axis milling work to tight tolerances.
This role is critical to maintaining high first-pass yield, meeting quoted cycle times, and supporting first-article and repeat production in a regulated AS9100 environment.

The Work You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines with 4th-axis capability
- Perform complete job setups, including workholding, tooling, and offsets
- Machine complex aerospace components to tight tolerances
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, customer specifications, and GD&T
- Make real-time adjustments to feeds, speeds, and offsets to ensure part conformance
- Perform in-process inspections and support First Article Inspections (FAIs)
- Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and quality to improve cycle times and tooling
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with AS9100 requirements
- Keep machines and work areas clean, organized, and safety-compliant
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and monitor machine condition
This is a hands-on machining role where setup quality and attention to detail matter.

Inspection Tools: Micrometers, dial bore gages, indicators, and other precision measuring equipment

What We’re Looking For
Required:
- 3–5+ years of experience operating CNC mills with 4th-axis capability
- Strong understanding of CNC setups, offsets, and tooling
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T
- Experience machining aerospace or other high-precision components
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools and inspection practices
- Familiarity with AS9100 procedures and documentation
- Ability to work independently and troubleshoot machining issues
Preferred (Not Required):
- Experience optimizing cycle times and tooling strategies
- Exposure to SMED or other setup reduction methodologies
- CAM programming experience

- Complete setups and first parts within 20% of quoted setup time
- Maintain >90% first-pass yield by minimizing scrap and rework
- Hold repeat job cycle times within ±10% of quoted cycle time
- Complete forklift and saw training/certifications
1-Year Goals
- Maintain >98% accuracy on critical dimensions
- Assess and implement at least one SMED technique to reduce setup time
