Description
Job Summary:
The Machining Technician is responsible for the creation and approval of fixturing designs, tooling designs, CNC Programs, Macro Programming as well as overseeing the implementation of these designs until they are proven effective. This position is also responsible for process improvements including cycle time reductions and process flow improvements and cost reduction.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Interact with all internal departments regarding cast vs. machining decisions.
- Utilize CAM systems for generation of cutter paths.
- Oversee building and startup until proved capable and production ready, including adherence to all acceptance criteria, and capability of running at quoted production rates.
- Produce detailed documentation of processes.
- Troubleshoot difficult machining problems and assist other setup personnel in solving problems. Lead and/or participate in root-cause analyses.
- Initiate reviews of existing processes and search for and implement continuing improvements.
- Train various machining personnel on basic principles of machining, equipment setup, troubleshooting, use of setup sheets, and quality systems procedures.
- Ensure that documentation, both paper and electronic, is properly organized, and stored.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Two years minimum experience with CNC machines and mechanical tools and fixturing.
- Two years minimum experience CNC Programming.
- Ability to work in a team atmosphere and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work without close supervision and handle multiple projects simultaneously and be self-motivated.
- Machining experience within a high production facility is a plus.
- Automation and macro programming experience is a plus.
- Understanding GD&T.
- Knowledge of selecting/designing proper cutting tools.

- Wear all required PPE: safety glasses, hearing protection, safety footwear.
- Comply with all established safety rules and policies.
- Report unsafe conditions, all accidents, and near misses immediately to Supervisor or Manager.
Physical Requirements:
- Can stand for several hours at a time.
