Experienced CNC Lathe Setup Machinist

DPI Inc. is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Setup Machinist capable of independently setting up and operating CNC turning equipment in a precision manufacturing environment.

This position focuses on complete machine setups—not production operation alone. The ideal candidate can read blueprints, select and install tooling, set workholding, establish offsets, prove out existing programs, and make the adjustments necessary to produce conforming parts. Programming experience is welcome and may be utilized, but it is not required for this position.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform complete CNC lathe setups from established programs and setup documentation
• Install and indicate workholding, tooling, jaws, and fixtures
• Set tool and work offsets
• Safely prove out programs and complete first-piece inspections
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications
• Use micrometers, calipers, indicators, thread gages, and other inspection equipment
• Make offset and tooling adjustments to maintain part quality
• Troubleshoot tooling, setup, and machining issues
• Complete required production and quality documentation
• Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient work area

Qualifications:

• Previous experience independently setting up CNC lathes
• Strong blueprint-reading and inspection skills
• Ability to work with close tolerances
• Working knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and machining practices
• Ability to identify and correct setup or process problems
• CNC programming or program-editing experience is a plus, but not required
