Barnes Aerospace is seeking experienced, motivated CNC VTL Machinists to join our team in Warren, MI. This role involves machining large, precision aerospace components for both military and commercial aircraft programs.

Candidates must be comfortable working with large-diameter parts, reading complex aerospace documentation, and holding tight tolerances in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position reports directly to the Shift Supervisor.

Typical part sizes range from 30” up to approximately 70” in diameter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) machines
  • Run multiple machines simultaneously where feasible within machining cells
  • Machine hard metals including Inconel, Titanium, and Stainless Steel
  • Read and interpret customer blueprints, specifications, and internal process sheets
  • Use Fanuc controls, including making offsets as required by the program
  • Read and interpret CNC programs at the machine
  • Load parts onto fixtures and safely operate hoists to load parts into machines
  • Read tool sheets and set up tooling for production jobs
  • Utilize precision measuring tools including gauges, swing gauges, calipers, and micrometers
  • Work with Right-Angle Heads as required
  • Apply GD&T knowledge and consistently hold tight tolerances (thousandths)
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Department Supervisor or Manager

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience, preferably in an aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Experience supporting major aerospace OEMs such as Pratt & Whitney, GE, Rolls-Royce, or similar
  • Strong math skills and ability to use a calculator
  • Ability to read English and interpret symbols on operation sheets
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and climb machine platforms as required
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work across all levels of the organization
  • Willingness to work overtime as business needs require
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
