This role supports ongoing aerospace programs that require high-precision vertical turning of rotating aircraft components. Barnes Aerospace is seeking an experienced VTL machinist who can independently set up, troubleshoot, and optimize machining processes while maintaining strict quality and safety standards on 2nd shift.

The Work You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Perform complex setups and operate CNC and/or manual Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs)
- Support both established production and NPI (New Product Introduction) jobs
- Edit programs and make process adjustments to ensure parts meet print and quality requirements
- Read and interpret blueprints, operation sheets, and technical documentation
- Machine rotating aerospace components, including plasma coatings and K/E seals
- Verify dimensions using precision measuring tools (micrometers, depth gages, height gages, verniers)
- Collaborate with Engineering on material conditions, part positioning, tooling pressure, and process optimization
- Detect and report faulty operations, materials, or quality concerns
- Support Lean manufacturing initiatives including 6S and continuous improvement
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; follow all PPE and safety requirements
- Meet production schedules and support overtime or flexible hours as needed
- Provide training and technical guidance to other machinists when required

What We’re Looking For
Required
- 3–5 years of machining experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
- 3+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC and/or manual VTLs
- Strong GD&T knowledge and math skills
- Ability to edit programs and troubleshoot machining processes
- Experience machining plasma coatings and K/E seals
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Willingness to work overtime and flexible hours as required
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience with Mazak, Mori-Seiki, or Leblond equipment
- Willingness to learn basic CNC programming
- Experience mentoring or training other machinists
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
