This role exists to support aerospace manufacturing and repair programs requiring precision turning of rotating components. At Barnes Aerospace, this position plays a key role in machining complex parts on VTL and lathe equipment, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with aerospace standards.

The Work You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Perform complex setups and operate CNC and/or manual VTL and lathe machines
- Support both production and NPI (New Product Introduction) work with minimal supervision
- Machine rotating aerospace components, including parts with plasma coatings and K/E seals
- Make program edits and process adjustments to meet part specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, operation sheets, and machining instructions
- Verify dimensions using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, depth gages, height gages, and verniers
- Work with engineering teams to optimize machining processes, tooling, and setups
- Detect and report machining issues, material concerns, or quality deviations
- Maintain safety, quality, and production standards
- Provide guidance and training to other machinists as needed

- Machines: CNC and manual VTLs and lathes
- Equipment Brands: Mazak, Mori Seiki, Leblond (and similar)
- Controls: Fanuc
- Inspection Tools: Micrometers, depth gages, height gages, verniers, and other precision measuring tools

What We’re Looking For
Required
- 3–5+ years of machining experience in an aerospace environment
- 3+ years of experience setting up and operating VTLs and/or lathes
- Strong math skills and understanding of GD&T
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and operation sheets
- Experience machining tight-tolerance components
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Ability to work in a team-based manufacturing environment
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience machining plasma coatings and K/E seals
- Experience with Mazak, Mori Seiki, or Leblond machines
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Willingness to learn CNC programming

Pay, Benefits & Schedule
Pay Range: $26 – $38/hr (DOE)
Pay Notes: +15% shift differential for 2nd shift
