As demand continues to grow across Siemens Energy's gas turbine service and manufacturing operations, we are expanding our machining team in Charlotte, NC.

This role plays a critical part in producing and refurbishing large gas turbine rotor components that support power generation infrastructure around the world. The CNC Vertical Boring Machinist helps ensure these critical components meet demanding quality and performance standards while supporting the future of reliable and lower-emission energy production.

The Work You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Set up and operate large CNC Vertical Boring Mills (VBMs)
  • Machine large turbine rotor components and related assemblies
  • Select tooling, fixtures, and machine setups based on job requirements
  • Load, run, monitor, and adjust CNC programs as needed
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T requirements
  • Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections
  • Verify dimensions using precision measuring equipment
  • Adjust offsets, tooling, feeds, and speeds to maintain quality standards
  • Complete production and quality documentation accurately
  • Safely move large components using overhead cranes and forklifts
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining production schedules

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 3+ years of CNC machining experience operating boring mills or large CNC machine tools
  • Experience with Siemens and/or FANUC controls
  • Ability to read blueprints and GD&T
  • Strong understanding of machine setups, tooling, offsets, and precision measurement
  • Experience performing in-process inspections
  • Ability to safely work around large machined components
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification
  • Ability to obtain Critical Lift (B+) crane certification
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality

Preferred

  • Experience machining large-diameter components
  • Experience in power generation, heavy industrial, aerospace, or energy manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma principles
  • Experience working with large vertical boring mills
