As a skilled CNC Technician joining our manufacturing team, you'll be responsible for operating and maintaining CNC routers, laser engraving machines, and Haas mills to produce high-quality parts. This position offers the opportunity to combine craftsmanship with technology-programming using G-code, operating machines, monitoring quality, and ensuring everything runs smoothly from setup to completion. You'll play a vital role in driving production efficiency and maintaining high-quality standards, all while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.

What You'll Be Doing
- Internal Purchase Orders: Build to internal purchase orders (IPOs) and complete required paperwork.
- Inventory Management: Maintain proper inventory levels on materials needed, keeping a minimum stock level.
- Machine Maintenance: Maintain machines and remove and replace broken or worn machine tools, using hand tools.
- Quality Control: Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
- Tool and Fixture Setup: Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Tool Replacement: Remove and replace dull cutting tools.
- Machine Operation: Set up and operate computer-controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions on metal or plastic workpieces.
- Machine Programming: Insert control instructions into machine control units to start operation.
- Program Review: Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished workpiece dimensions, or numerical control sequences.
- Program Modifications: Modify cutting programs to account for problems encountered during operation and save modified programs.
- Specification Updates: Implement changes to machine programs and enter new specifications, using computers.
- Machine Monitoring: Monitor machine operation and control panel displays and compare readings to specifications to detect malfunctions.
- Command Input: Enter commands or load control media, such as tapes, cards, or disks, into machine controllers to retrieve programmed instructions.
- Speed and Feed Calculations: Calculate machine speed and feed ratios and the size and position of cuts.
- Control Adjustments: Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction.
- Equipment Cleaning: Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of cutting equipment and work area in accordance with company standards and manufacturer's machine recommendations.
- Job Preparation: Set up future jobs while machines are operating.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Education: Technical Certification or Associate's Degree in manufacturing, machining, or related field. CNC Machinist/Fabricator Certificate preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years progressive experience operating CNC machinery. Minimum of 1 year engraving laser operation experience.
- Skills: Familiarity with operating Haas mills, CNC routers, and laser engravers. Demonstrated proficiency in Fusion 360 and experience working in CAD software.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Strong capacity to manage multiple tasks, prioritize jobs, and adapt to changing production schedules.
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical/troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve machining or programming errors in a team environment.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
- Experience with large-format printing a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise and temperature variations.
