Job Overview:
HF Custom/Sam Moore, a division of Hooker Furnishings Corporation, is seeking a CNC Technician and Operator for our Bedford, VA location. HF Custom/Sam Moore has a rich history of crafting custom upholstery for over 80 years. The CNC Operator/Technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of machines, ensuring quality production, and assisting with the integration of CNC processes.
While manufacturing experience is preferred, it is not required. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of CAM software, with preference for Solid CAM, though experience with any CAM software is acceptable.

The CNC Operator/Technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of machines, ensuring quality production, and assisting with the integration of CNC processes.

Key Responsibilities:
Machine Operation and Maintenance:
- Operate a variety of CNC and manual machines, including but not limited to 5-axis wood machining centers, table saws, vertical and horizontal boring machines, pump sanders, edge sanders, and miter saws.
- Perform setup, operation, and routine maintenance on machinery under the guidance of senior staff.
- Assist in the troubleshooting of machine issues and perform adjustments as needed.
Training and Development:
- Receive on-the-job training to develop proficiency in operating CNC machines and using CAM software.
- Collaborate with the production and engineering teams to ensure machines are running efficiently and products are manufactured to specifications.
- Learn to modify and input simple CNC programs based on provided specifications and drawings.
Quality Control:
- Inspect finished products using precision tools to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Follow established quality assurance protocols and report any defects or deviations to supervisors.
- Manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of Solid CAM preferred, but experience with CAM software required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints is a plus.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
- Full-time, 1st shift position at our Bedford, VA location. (6 am- 7 am start time)
