Why This Role Exists

Camtool’s programming is already covered in-house — this role is about setup and running Swiss CNC lathes to keep production moving. You’ll set up jobs from established programs, hold tight tolerances, and own the day-to-day operation of Swiss lathe work.

You’ll play a key role in producing precision Swiss-turned components while helping improve processes, reduce costs, and support long-term manufacturing growth.

The Work You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

• Set up and run Swiss CNC lathes based on customer drawings
• Develop setup sheets, manage tooling and tool life
• Make minor program edits and offset adjustments to dial in cycle time, chip control, and tool usage
• Analyze job travelers to determine operation sequence, tooling, feeds, and speeds
• Perform in-process and final inspection using precision measuring tools
• Collaborate with the programming team and internal staff on process improvements
• Troubleshoot machining and quality issues
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities and implement process improvements
• Accurately document work orders, inspection records, and maintenance logs

This is a hands-on setup and run role — programming is already covered in-house.

What We’re Looking For

Required

• 2+ years of Swiss CNC lathe experience (any brand)
• Strong blueprint reading skills
• Solid understanding of setups, tooling, and offsets
• Ability to inspect parts and hold tight tolerances
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred (Not Required)

• CNC programming experience
• Fixture or workholding design experience
