Skyway Precision is continuing to expand operations at its Livonia, Michigan facility and is hiring experienced CNC Set Up Machinists to support growing production demands.

This position plays a critical role in machining large, complex cast components used in agricultural equipment, earth-moving equipment, and other industrial applications. You'll work in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment where setup skills, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail are highly valued.

The Work You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

• Set up and operate CNC horizontal and vertical machining centers
• Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and work instructions
• Install and qualify tooling, fixtures, and workholding
• Set offsets and make machine adjustments as needed
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections
• Read and understand CNC programs for setup and troubleshooting purposes
• Monitor part quality and make offset adjustments to maintain specifications
• Support production of large cast iron and aluminum components
• Work closely with programmers, quality personnel, and fellow machinists
• Help troubleshoot machining, tooling, and production issues

What We're Looking For

Required

• 3+ years of CNC machining experience
• CNC setup experience on mills or horizontal machining centers
• Ability to read blueprints and machining documentation
• Experience setting tooling, offsets, and fixtures
• Strong understanding of machining fundamentals
• Ability to inspect parts using precision measuring instruments
• Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented mindset

Preferred

• Fanuc control experience
• Experience machining castings
• Horizontal machining center experience
• Large-part machining experience
• Ability to read and understand CNC code
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills

Pay, Benefits & Schedule

Pay Range

$30 - $40 per hour (DOE)

Additional Compensation

• 10% Shift Premium for 2nd Shift
• $1,500 Sign-On Bonus (paid after 90 days)
