Why This Role Exists
Fostet Manufacturing relies on skilled CNC machine operators to keep precision-machined components moving through production for customers across automotive, defense, oil & gas, mining, and commercial manufacturing. This role is responsible for operating CNC machine tools and performing in-process quality checks to keep parts on spec and on schedule.
What You'll Be Doing
- Operate machine tools to perform machining operations such as milling, drilling, boring, and other machining operations in a timely manner
- Perform "first off" checks per procedure
- Load and unload parts in a safe and productive manner
- Perform quality checks as required, verifying part dimensions with precision measuring instruments and completing associated quality documentation
- Complete SPC charts and take necessary action per SPC training
- Monitor and maintain tooling in peak condition
- Perform daily machine checks per the preventive maintenance program and safety procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, including chip removal and general housekeeping
- Communicate effectively with peers, engineers, quality assurance, and management

What We're Looking For
Required
- Minimum Grade 12 education
- Minimum of 3 years of related work experience in a CNC facility/environment
- Strong math skills
- Proficient with measuring devices including calipers, digital indicators, micrometers, and height gauges
- Motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail and accuracy
- Available for day and evening shifts as required
Preferred (Not Required)
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, charts, tables, and quality documentation, and interpret tolerance/surface-finish symbols
- Strong written and verbal communication across levels within the organization
- Positive attitude toward new ideas and continuous improvement
