This contract role supports aerospace MRO and NPI programs requiring rapid, accurate CNC programming and engineering support. Barnes Aerospace needs an experienced CNC Programming Engineer to lead turning and VTL programming, support shop-floor issues in real time, and collaborate closely with Process Engineering and Operations to maintain throughput, quality, and compliance.

The Work You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Lead turning (lathe and VTL) CNC programming development, instruction, and debugging
- Collaborate with Process Engineers and machining leads to resolve production issues
- Provide direct shop-floor support with NC program edits and changes
- Support NPI development by creating and validating new NC programs
- Work with Process Engineers on CAD model development and validation for milling and turning operations
- Partner with Senior Engineering staff on broader engineering and process initiatives
- Develop and maintain manufacturing standards and programming best practices
- Author and maintain shop documentation including routers, operation sheets, and inspection forms
- Ensure compliance with approved Repair Technical Data (Engine Manuals, Service Bulletins, OEM supplemental data)

What We’re Looking For
Required
- 5+ years of direct CNC turning programming experience
- Aerospace machining experience with nickel and titanium alloys
- Strong understanding of full machine setups, program edits, and tight-tolerance machining
- Ability to support production issues quickly and effectively
- Experience using NX CAM and manual CNC programming
- Familiarity with aerospace repair documentation (engine manuals, service bulletins, OEM-approved data)
- Experience authoring shop process planning documentation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across Engineering, Operations, and Leadership
Preferred (Not Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Experience supporting aerospace MRO environments
- Lean manufacturing exposure
