CAD/CAM CNC Programmer

Hours: Full-time Monday - Friday, 8:00am -- 4:30pm

Compensation: $35.00-$37.00/hour

Job Description

This position will set up, operate, and maintain the operation of the guitar part manufacturing CNC machines to craft high-quality guitar necks and bodies. They will ensure each part meets design specifications, and quality standards. Key responsibilities encompass creating and modifying programs, machine operation, quality assurance, and troubleshooting machine performance and material or product inconsistencies.

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities Include:

  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs.
  • Design and create jigs and fixtures.
  • Use CAD/CAM software to design toolpaths and generate CNC code.
  • Select appropriate tools, fixtures, feeds/speeds, etc. based on material and design requirements.
  • Perform machine setup activities including tool loading, offsets, and test runs.
  • Conduct first part inspections to validate program accuracy and make necessary adjustments.
  • Provide guidance to machine operators on program intent, setup instructions, and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for programs, setup sheets, offsets, and revisions.
  • Assist in developing standard operating procedures and training resources.
  • Identify equipment or software upgrades that improve efficiency or precision.
  • General maintenance tasks related to and for the department and other crews.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Formal training and/or a graduate of a certified technical school preferred
  • One year of relevant woodworking, fast paced production, and manufacturing experience preferred
  • 5 years of CNC operation experience
  • 5 years of CNC programming experience
  • Enthusiasm for electric guitars preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

A general knowledge of:

  • CNC terminology, maintenance, and operation
  • CAD/CAM software, Mastercam X or above and Rhino
  • Tools, fixtures, feeds/speeds
  • fanuc, fadal, osai, and shop sabre controls and code

  • drive to and from worksites and meeting locations.

Working Environment:

This position does not supervise other positions but may assist with training other employees. It is full-time, onsite, Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This position will occasionally travel between site locations and will work in both manufacturing and office work environments. When in the office, this person will spend most of the day sitting at a desk, working at a computer. When working in manufacturing, this person will spend most of the day standing, working at or on a CNC machine. The work areas are partially temperature controlled and may experience higher temperatures in the summer. This position may experience a loud and/or dusty environment. This individual will primarily work independently but may interact with team members as needed throughout the day. This position occasionally requires use of a personal vehicle for reimbursable work-related travel.
